Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

We've never (in my lifetime at least) had top level operators in every position at the same time. We've had some top players / manager / coaches / owners but not at once.

We've now got an owner who has been brought up in and around top european football clubs,
A director of football who has consistently operated at top European clubs and knows how to do business with big players/clubs
We've got a forward thinking manager who is clearly very bright and has a great record of developing players
We've brought in some top coaches from Elite clubs
To add to that we've signed some top performing players from europes top 5 leagues (Xhaka, Alderete, Diarra, Reinildo, Mukiele etc)
Mixed in with High potential young players with top level experience (Talbi, Sidiki, Adingra)

This is not the recipe of a side expecting to fight relegation long term. Staying up will be the main goal this season of course, but beyong that we'll be targeting top half year on year as a minimum imo

I've never known the club be in such a healthy position both on and off the field
Absolutely this!
The backroom staff is impressive: The technical coach of Milan when they won the title, GK coach that E. Martinez says he's the best he ever worked with, set pieces coach with a track record in improving hugely this department...It seems nothing is let to chance, every piece of the puzzle must be top class. KLD is playing Football Manager in real life.😎

Not enough goals in the team atm for me like, appreciate the fickleness of this board and after a good win albeit against a shite team of course everything is all rosy and we’re ganna win the league.

Said Paddy Roberts and Dan Neil weren’t anywhere near good enough, guess what the club agreed.

Said we’d beat West Ham 3-0, guess what it happened.

Isidore nowhere near good enough, Guiu and Mayenda on the face of it offer the same kind of threat.

Need a big experienced shithouse striker to draw free kicks and get us up the pitch when we come under the cosh which will happen a lot.

Think you're being unfair on Isidor. His movement is excellent and his biggest strength is quick counters.

We're going to be playing plenty of sides who are going to open up against us to go for the kill and we'll be sitting deep to counter.

Is he going to score 20 goals? No. But he's the perfect example of a player suiting a style of play to a tee IMO. Personally feel his strengths will be highlighted even more at PL level than the Championship as teams are largely unlikely to sit in against us save for a handful.

Pumping balls up to a big man is a quick way to lose possession and there's a reason why hardly any clubs employ that striker system any more.

Not sure if you work mate
If you do and next week they bring someone in , same age and skill set, on more than double your wage, it's good to know you'll be buzzing and just as positive at work as you signed up on a different wage.
Your employer will be ecstatic about you having that attitude. Your work colleagues will , I assume, think you're a mug
Leave it be. It's really not a thing and you're now comparing apples to oranges.

At the top level, many coaches prefer a left and a right footer but you are correct. I'm probably overthinking it.

they were talking about it earlier on SSN and the bloke was sort of questioning why we've gone for another left sided CB and that maybe Alderete could move to left back to accommodate Lucumi. which obviously won't happen. apparently two left footed CBs playing together though is a massive taboo

Correct! We have 3 strikers born for playing on the counter, they are exactly what we need. Isidor had one chance in the Prem and put it away, but people still say he's not good enough. He seems perfect for our 3rd option there.
And who's that big experienced striker some think we can get now? These are either too expensive, either too slow for our style of play. Mayenda, Guiu and Isidor will surprise many this season. We just need another RW to help with creativity IMO.

Inter Milan are the only top team I can think of who have 2 left footers at CB (Bastoni and Acerbi) and they generally play 3 CB's.

The Mags had Botman and Burn for a while but I think Howe changed it citing tactical issues in building out from the back.

Same with Mings and Torres at Villa although I think Mings has lost a lot of time through injury so they never played together that much.

It's generally to do with body shape / angles and turning as right footers tend to naturally turn towards the right to cover space and vice-versa for lefties.

Will agree to disagree, if someone I employed negotiated a contract then wanted a payrise after a week I would think that they were the mug

Lucumi is apparently good with both feet and so I'm assuming he'll be playing on the right.

We are one injury away from relying on O'Nien and Seelt and not sure I trust them for an extended run in the PL. Got to remember as well Fullkrug was the striker on Saturday...

People need to forget about Amad this summer.
See again... Ambitious project
We won’t be getting amad man 😂 I always have a little chuckle to myself when people say get him. He’s a player that’s important to Man Utd.
Ambitious project... It's happening!

And you think they would trust you and want you work for you!
Hmmm, great boss.' This is all we can afford.'
Next week,' ah we've found more than double the money for this new kid.'
Yeah , your workforce would be well happy!
What an owner / manager and a successful company by doing that I'm sure!.

Clarke Harris maybe?

I listened to Quickly Kevin Will He Score- Sam Allardyce yesterday. Its a fascinating insight particularly when he went to Tampa Bay and compared that to what we were doing here at the top level. He brought that learning to Bolton and absolutely went out on a limb to persuade the board to back him .........with backroom staff. Tampa had 32 backroom staff. He had less at Bolton and now every top level club has adopted the same approach.
Then he bought quality ( loaned ) and in the words of his psychology coach " convince them to come and create an environment where none want to leave". The parallels with KLD / RLB are scary.
