Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

I think too much is made of left and right footed centre backs.

If you have two right footers, then no one bats an eye lid.....two left footers and everyone is like "Woh, had on a second, can't have two lefties".
It’s because of the shape of our squad

We have 3 left backs in Cirkin, Mandava and Masuaku

We have Hume at RB. Then an injured Huggins

A right sided CB that can play RB would mean an improvement or completion for Ballard and also a player that can cover RB if needed

I reckon a lot of the apprehension is due to the fact that many hark back to the days when they played and rarely was anyone 2 footed or even barely adequate when the ball was on the ‘wrong’ foot.
Modern players may have a preferred foot but I think you’ll find they are more than adequate on what we would class as their weaker side.
Besides at CB especially it’s about marking, tackling, intercepting, simple passes, yes the odd hoik upfield, but rarely ( if ever ) do they need ‘ messiesque ‘ close control with that wrong foot.
Too many making mountains out of molehills on this issue

In fairness, Sunderland have had enough centre backs down the years who didn't even have feet, let alone a right one.

Asked AI for a summery of the last 10 pages:

Conclusion

  • RTG’s Last 10 Pages: Contains no actual transfer news—just fan chatter and humour.
  • Overall Transfer News: Sunderland are lurking, willing to bid up to around €22–25 million; Roma also interested; Lucumi remains non-committal but open; Bologna hold a firm stance; and journalists like Giordano and Di Marzio are closely tracking developments.
If you'd like, I can dig into earlier pages of the thread for any overlooked scoop or explore other credible sources for the very latest updates. Just say the word!

In fairness the past is a different country
I’d be surprised if every team in premier was so rigid in terms of selecting one right footed and one left footed CB
