Not convinced that Ballard will be good enough either. Obviously he was brilliant in the 2 games against Coventry but on the whole his form in the last 18 months doesn't inspire any confidence that he can cut it in the top flight.

Got to agree. Xhaka is a game changer in that CM of the likes its rare newly promoted teams get, whereas all over the rest of the term we're relying on unproven players at the top level.

I think smart money is still on us going down this year and using the extra resources to come back stronger. We'd have to get major reinforcements in both defence and up front for my view to change on that.

It's a huge step up and essentially we need an entirely new team.

Which we pretty much have….
I don’t think the recruitment could have been any better, it’s given us more than a chance. We have pace in the team which is what you need in the PL

I agree

He has a better chance than the others but ideally he would be our back up

Simply saying a certain player is not good enough to start in the prem,
When we sign this lad and if we get lucumi then please tell me where he gets in the side? Because Ballard will be ahead of him so enlighten me please.
 
What I don’t understand is prior to promotion, the narrative on here was “if we don’t go up this year, we’ll lose all our best players. They’ll be picked off by Premier League clubs”.

We get promotion and suddenly all of these players who were going to be sold are nowhere near the level required for the Prem.

The truth is somewhere in between I suspect- the step up is huge, but Liverpools squad isn’t full employers with the quality of Salah which is what some seem to expect.

It's a thread about Lucumi , there's threads on the other players . He'll get a game if and when RLB thinks it's the correct decision, that may or may not happen, but there's a few of you can't wait to jump in with the negativity before it's happened , great motivation for the lads ffs.
