Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

Really don't think people realise how hard next season's gonna be. Liam Delap had an incredible season as his side's sole focal point for just about every attack, took penalties and earned himself a move to a side in the Champions League. He scored 12 goals.

If Isidor even gets close to double figures he'll have had a great season. He didn't even get 15 in the Championship when he was first choice for most of the season.

We might still end up with Lucumi but there is significant differences between this proposed deal and the Xhaka and Guiu moves. Xhaka said he wanted to come here and his agent was also trying to talk up the move. Guiu was linked one day and the following day we got the “here we go” from Romano. The subsequent hold up was down to postponed flights.

Lucumi’s agent has apparently been hawking him around La Liga clubs trying to drum up interest and all we hear from the player’s side is that he is considering his options. Our interest has been known for weeks now, I get the impression he wants a move elsewhere and will only consider coming here if we’re the only club to meet Bologna’s asking price.

Fans sometimes joke that he’s late with stories but the bar for places like Sky or the BBC is so much higher than other journalists, that the story is often out before they can confirm and publish it

It’s still useful imo, even if it’s not breaking news. You know it’s gone through a more rigorous process than other media often has to, so they’re an accurate summary of the situation.

At this point, maybe we are briefing our interest in Lucemi (which is or certainly was real, too much smoke not to be) as a way of providing cover while we keep another deal super tight, to stop the likes of Bournemouth etc. trying to get in on it.

I’m convinced we’re doing that for Bade. He’s not coming, but is our “main priority”? Right, sure.

Meanwhile, someone not even linked lands in a medical.

Spot on here.

Sure Phil Smith mentioned that he was only aware that we registered our interest but was one of many we have done so with. Feels like a non starter this one now tbh. Time will tell.

One thing I think we’ve learned from this regime is until a player says no, we stick with them. If we get an out and out no I am certain we get a player in within 24 hours.
 
Surely it’s reached this point…..

“Hi mate, how much do we need to pay today to get this one sorted for our last couple of pre seasons friendlies?”

Either

“Yeah sound let’s go for it”
Or
“Nah thanks too much, we’ll move onto another target”
