Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

Also, what experienced strikers are about that will offer us anything worthwhile compared to our current options, who don't cost more than 30m?

Not sure it is, there are two strikers who finished as our top contributors and are backed to step up. Talbi, Diarra, Sadiki are all inexperienced in the prem. It makes no sense in a squad management aspect. We have just given Mayenda a new deal and Guiu assurances of play time. Unless Isidor leaves, I can't see another striker making it 4 to compete for one spot.

Talbi, Diarra, and Sadiki all have top level experience. Mayneda and Guiu barely have any!

If we go into the PL thinking two 19 yr olds with such little experience and Wilson are going to be enough, then it'll have been a waste of the money spent as we'll be pretty toothless upfront.

Or either, or both, and Wilson, make you look a whopper?

Tom White got a text saying Lucumi is done but then RR didn't put that part of the interview in the final cut?
It’s like Chinese whispers this !

He said he got information earlier that Lucumi to Sunderland was all but done but Sky have a policy that they need to confirm the authenticity of the info from three sources before they run the story. They didn’t run with the story so presumingly they couldn’t verify the information. The fact that it hasn’t been done several days later suggests their caution was justified !

Hopefully it will still happen !

Yeah, the club are hardly going to bin off two young strikers who were our top contributors last season, not how we do things. We clearly think Guiu can do a job for us too and offer something different. Mayenda has just a chance as anyone of exploding this season

I'd certainly hope so if that is us finished upfront.

I doubt any team coming up has spent so much and then gambled on such little experience upfront though.
You know Josh Sargent was going to move the other week for £21m.

What prolific striker in Europe is going to come for less than €30m? And to a newly promoted side too?

It would still be a gamble going to belgium and paying 25m fee for Franjo Ivanovic (who has moved now) than loaning guiu

Got to remember we don’t have unlimited funds. I think we have a serviceable front line and we can go into the market in January if all 3 flop. I’d much rather go with what we have up top (especially as we will likely only play one main striker and have scope to rotate to suit form and opposition) than go in with the defence as threadbare as it is.

Personally can't see it. I think it'll be Guiu, Mayenda, Isidor and a winger who could fill in there. The club backs Mayenda and Isidor and have given Chelsea assurances of Guíu playing. Wouldn't make sense having 4 strikers for one spot imo
Danny Collins was saying he would like a more experienced striker aswel after Guiu and Tom White said we were looking for another striker on top of Guiu didn't he? That offer from Saudi for Isidor still on the table?
Tin hat on id take DCL as the other option
He’s different to the others we have
You wouldn't get half a season out of him.

We could use him in sporadic games
As one of four options I think it could be decent move personally
He’s a handful on crosses and corners again with exception of Ballard something we don’t have
Get the scepticism with it as well though to be fair

Hadn't heard Tom White say it, still listening, didn't know danny collins had said it either. If Isidor leaves I can see it like
just on that point, now he said that would be his opinion, and he doesn't know if we are going down that road (about a Premier league experienced striker)

I'm not saying we have, but to spend that much money and then rely on these young lads to do the business is a huge risk. The club are looking for quality at the back, and I think we need to be doing the same upfront too.

That's not to say I don't think any of Wilson, Mayenda, or Guiu wouldn't contribute. If Guiu can come in and hit the ground running, then great. It's just a big ask for a lad yet to play a season in men's football, let alone the PL.
