Jared Gillet

Like Duracell batteries these lads

Why care SO much that these theads happen every week.

Fans will vent, just let get the on with it. Its always the same trio being the devout defenders of refs. Slightly weird really

One admitted to not being a Sunderland supporter, one is apparently a mag. Not sure what Robs defence is ;)

I don’t include AC. He’s usually pretty balanced and also did decent match day reports
like you say mate it’s the same 3 every week whining on and on about refs who are poor and trying to find a defence for them when there isn’t one,out of the 3 ,one’s a mag,one doesn’t gan to games and the other apparently gans but must have stevie wonders eyes …🤷🏻‍♂️ all 3 of them have never played, coached or reffed to any significance or importance but seem to have an opinion after watching a few highlights on everything 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Yeah "The Elite" always turn into a problem once you give them power
Well yeah that’s a fair point and Saturday proves your point by VAR unbelievably not overturning the decision made on the field.

Never a less it miles more easier and more fair to refs on the field to ban players for cheating after watching replays and been certain of it.

Rather then expecting to stop it on the field when it’s proven through years and years of evidence how difficult it is to be certain in real time
Why do you never see howlers in American sport ? . The flag is 99% right , the review is always 100% right . We have the same eyes on , just not on the field its continuous VAR yet its getting things wrong weekly . Maybe managers should get two appeals a match and its beamed to a panel of officials sitting remotely . That would keep the on field and VAR officials honest . With AI these days you could even alter the kits and faces so the external reviewers didnt know which team they were reviewing . Sounds Draconian and far fetched but if we get much more of this , with the money thats at stake it will come .
No, the issue I have is with people who think the problem shouldn't exist. How would you fix it? Do you think it's actually fixable?

I bet you if you watched football/soccer in America exactly the same mistakes would be made in real time on the field.

In fact I would go as far to say if you watched football from Mexico to Norway the same mistakes would be made in real time by refs.

And why?

Because it’s not the individuals themselves

it’s inevitable whoever the ref is from whatever country, always has been, always will be, because human eye not enough of a tool to get enough decisions right to satisfy supporters never has been.

VAR as I have said before I accept a lot of the criticism that gets thrown at VAR because they have luxury of replays.

But real time decisions have and always have been and always will be prone to mistakes.

There is so much evidence to back my view up on that.

They dont happen in the NFL

Genuine question - Removing Gillet from the equation, what do you make of VAR not intervening on the penalty?

I’m personally under the impression that with the VAR official having never refereed a prem game before, he’s become very hesitant to overrule the onfield official which is an issue in itself as it’s bringing in a doubt of superiority or “higher class” of officials with their ranking on how they get games.

They don’t happen in many other sports.

But they happen in the same sport in every football league in the world proving to me it’s not the individuals themselves that bad.

It’s the job itself that’s too difficult to be perceived as good, as a tool a ref has is the same tool they had 100 years ago just the human eye, and it’s not a sufficient tool to do the job to the standard people want in real time

Once again all the evidence available proves that to be the case.

Keep repeating things and saying this proves that and it might come true .
I'll tell you why it doesnt happen in the NFL , the American public and the multibillion organisations wouldnt stand for it . There would be an inquisition about saturdays debacle, someones head would roll and they might even get sued . They dont hunt their politicians but they would if you F with the NFL

My thought on the penalty not being given is that it was too early in the match to award a penalty and red card. The player made no attempt to play the ball whilst denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity which would have resulted in a red card if the penalty had been given. This potential red card seems to have been overlooked.

It’s not about repeating things it’s just looking at the evidence and for years and years through different generations of refs in all different countries it’s proven without a shadow of doubt whoever is referee at that particular time in history will make mistakes in real time.

It’s always happened and always will

Yeah that 1950's VAR was shit wasnt it and i hear Mombassa FC got fucked over at the weekend again .
The PL is the worlds association football flagship the European equivelant to the NFL. Ok down the leagues you take what you can get , you dont like it , you moan about it but your assertion holds , shit happens .
This is the PL , if the man on the spot needs better help , better tech whatever he should get it or there should be greater oversight , in game appeals , retrospectives etc . And when we see some shite like the weekend there should be proper inquiry into all aspects and all possibilities ,not just a " well he's ok sometimes " .
