Jan Paul van Hecke (rumour)

Every time one of the 'big six' (lol) makes one of these moves, they're just causing a net loss for themselves.

Well-run clubs see them coming, slap on a premium, the 'big six' get a good player... but their competitors are flooded with cash and usually replace the player for a fraction.

Every big sale is effectively like giving one of the other 14 teams 'big six' sponsor money for a year. Keep doing it and the gap will just keep eroding.

I'm all for it, me. Let Spurs spend what they like. I honestly reckon we could find a similar calibre CB for £10-20m (well, we already did in Nordi and Alderete...)
They really arent causing a net loss, they are paying a tax but its a proven player tax which they can afford.

For every Alderete there is a Dragusin, for clubs who are getting top tier sponsorship and Champions League money (granted spurs are nowhere near this) they can afford to pay the tax and not have to risk signing players for £20/30m and blood them into their team and hope they can play in this league. Its what Brighton have done so well, Tony Bloom saw the market and used his intelligence and those who work for him to find the players that Man United/Chelsea/Liverpool would all be looking at but deem them not worth the risk and he took them, they still make mistakes but they arent high profile when they only pay £2m and sell one for £100m.

I think he's quality mind, on the face of it seems mental to spend £70m on him if your Spurs. They've got more problems than just CB, thought they were getting Senesi?

Good news for us mind.

Palace, Bournemouth and Fulham with new managers.

Forest losing Anderson with no realistic chance they replace him with a better player.

Brighton losing a key CB for them.
Fulham will be fine, if they do the obvious thing, and appoint Thomas Frank.
Bournemouth do seem to get their succession plans right.
Palace… no idea.

£70million?! Absolutely baffling money that - Ballard, Alderete, Mukiele must be worth over £100 million each if 70 buys you players like Van Hecke
As much as I love Alderete and Ballard, I think this lad is a better player than them two. Didn't realise he is younger than Ballard too.

Not Nordi though, he's a top 4 defender and shits over him

Aye, ultimately I can't see any of them being in trouble. Fulham the most likely, but stability might give us a little head start on sides with new managers and/or losing key players this upcoming season (not to say that it won't happen to us with losing players mind!).
