Ok if I have to explain it to you we are a newly promoted league 1 club now playing in the championship. Brighton are a well established premier League club and we are hoping to loan by all accounts a very talented defender who was Blackburn rovers player of the season last year.
Now how is that a sad state of the times ?

A sad state of the times is that Sunderland are having to loan players from Brighton - I.e. I find it sad that we aren’t performing to our potential and they are arguably performing way above what they could traditionally expect. Does that make sense to you? No disrespect to Brighton, but in the grand scheme of things we are a much bigger club.
