James Vaughan

I haven't changed any goal posts. I think you should clearly read my posts - nowhere have I said that was good. More is the point I've said it was average in the Championship and highlighted the fact that is the best Vaughan has done at that level, whilst Wood has bettered it twice and scored a similar amount twice and he's only 25 now!

f***ing give over. Woods wasn't the same level of gamble Vaughan is  In his last full season at Leicester he scored only four league goals and was sub shitloads as Leicester had Vardy and Nugent as regulars starters (only half of his games at Leicester was as a starter). He was 22 at the point the season ended. He then played a few games in the PL for Leicester and a handful at Ipswich on loan - 8 with 5 actually being as sub. The season before Leicester's promotion he'd scored 20 goals at Leicester and Millwall aged 21 at the end of the season.

If it was circa 2015 with Woods we'd be signing 24 year old player who had a few indifferent loan spells, but had a season of not really playing due to his club being promoted and signing a couple of forwards. Before that he'd scored 4, 20 and 12 goals in his previous three full Championship seasons and wouldn't be coming to us with an injury littered career and having had to step down to League One at 27/28.

As said previously - I have no problems with him signing. I do not trust the people at the club to make the two or three signings in this area though, so having to rely on Vaughan worries me.
I'm perfectly happy Grayson signing a player he knows and has played well for.

SKP didnt exactly set pulses racing when he was signed mind. I`ll give the fella time as at least it sounds like he gives his all--unlike a few fancy dans we have signed recently:evil:
edit, having somebody like him alongside them will do Asoro and Maja plenty good anarl when they come on

That's why they're the backup. Have better strikers ahead of them but don't crowd then out do they don't get game time

Which is why signing Vaughan is a good thing.

You cannot go into a Championship season with one experienced striker and two teenagers with no first team experience......

We had Stern John in 06/07. The mags had Shefki Kuqi and Antoine Sibierski in their prior promotion campaign.

We need a squad of players capable of playing 50 ish games across the season. I'd be worried if he was our main target but as 3/4th choice he's a great shout.

He came from non league
He only scored 8 goals in his first season. It took him a good 3 seasons to be a prolific championship striker.

Anyway ive said my piece
3 seasons while he was young and then got better. More like wood's record than Vaughan's.

It's his birthday in two days time.
I bet he never dreamed of playing for a club as big as us at this stage of his career.

Happy early birthday Jimbo.

Sunderland have made a bid of £900,000 for Bury striker James Vaughan.

Before you write him off, he has a very good record in a league 1 below the one we find ourselves in.
Staws n clutching there. Embarrassing how Ellis Short has fucked us over. Supporters trying to justify a £900,000 bid for a Bury centre forward. 10yrs in the Premier League and this what it has come to.

We need 2 probably 3 in. So Vaughan and 2 others wouldn't be too bad. At 500k you can't go wrong really. He'll surely get a few goals.

One in three say, not that that.

He got 31 goals in 86 games for Huddersfield at that level. He did well at Bury last year and for me, there's not a massive gap between the two leagues.

Not saying he'd be my first choice, just think he might surprise a few.
