But what has Keane done since he left? If anything his career has and is going down hill. SKP has been doing his badges and has worked as a coach at Leicester, Derby and Stoke. People wanted Keane back for sentimental reasons too. It would be a risk to appoint either one.
Good points but since Keane has already got us promoted in the past there are grounds for arguing he could do a better job than Ross. With Phillips it doesn't even seem like he's achieved much as a coach - that would be pure sentiment and as bad as an appointment as I could think of. I agree that Keane is flawed.

you get that feeling don't you. BSA would never have piped up like that and pressured another manager in a job if something wasn't imminent - Ross was quite popular with the players too and they seem a bit demotivated now.
My feelings are just because I don’t see these fellas leaving anything to chance and will go for the best they can attract to League One, I don’t think they’ll hang around with their plans.

Tin hat on but Keane with a director of football would be fine by me. Whether he could work with one is up for debate like but I just think it could help in terms of not wasting money, which Keane was a bit guilty of in the top flight. As a manager though I'd be happy to see him just for the high standards he demands which I imagine would be in line with the owners. He wouldn't be telling us all how mint Rochdale played, he'd be expecting us to win this league at a canter and, along with the boost it would give the support and with a bit of spending in January (sensible and in line with the league one version of FFP) I think he'd do it. Would divide opinion of course

I don't think he can work with anyone, that's my point. He never compromises and compromise is simply an essential part of teamwork.

question: what do the buyers know about 'who is a good potential manager'? Surely they have to be advised this from somebody?

So, no press conference then?

Just to add, there hasn't been any tweeting from the usual local journos today about SAFC. Not a dicky bird...... Very unusual, especially when the PR was supposed to be on today. There is definitely something afoot
