another saffer

Aye, but at least he came through an English academy. Got a canny slower ball on him, interesting to see if he gets straight in cos Tremlett was awful against the Windies.

Are there any more SA openers in domestic cricket we can look at?

surprised that Alfonso Thomas from Somerset hasnt been snared for the one day stuff

good shout and as the other lad said as good a 20/20 player as there is around.

Age probably counts against him, he's 35 I think, and isn't he a West Indian playing on a South African passport? Obviously eligible like but some would implode if he was included (EB and TLW)

On the contrary, Id be disgusted if we picked anyone in the one day format that was english born these days

He's just turned 34 and from Cape Town - get him in!!

Edit - should have read his biography, he played for South Africa v Pakistan in a 20/20 game in 2007

as were in 2011, that means he has done his 4 years like KP, Keiswetter and Trott...sign him up

my wish is for the England cricket team to replicate Arsenal and go out with 11 foreign nationals

In fairness though they were only good when they had an English spine ;)

Fair enough. I would rather have Colly in than Trott though, think it's wrong that South Africans who fancy a few quid play ahead of lads who have dedicated their lives to playing for England.

I think that someone should have been spent a chunk of their school life in this country to qualify to play for England
