You’re absolutely right but I think it’s ok to question these performances. Didn’t he say his teams love to create chances? O’Nien has to start.
Yes it would be nice to see outstanding performances every week, but in reality it is League 1 and it's a matter of grinding out results any way we can. It means dealing with crap refs, garbage decisions, teams that come just to frustrate, kicking, gouging, scrapping and knicking wins. All the old cliches, .... At the end of the day, when all is said and done, in the fullness of time, when all is revealed, when the fat lady sings, etc..... we just need to be in that top two, no matter how we get there.

Agree with this. Could have sworn there were 20 yellow shirts in their box at times.

Really poor today again, looked disjointed and created very little, we have the quality to win games but our general play is terrible and seems to be going backwards.

Fantastic manager. Working under more scrutiny than any other manager in the league, with a hotch potch of players scraped together at short notice at a club that had been plunged into its darkest days.

With the odd exception, these are bang average players, most of whom will sense the heightened levels of expectation, who will instinctively pick up the ingrained anxiety of a fan base which has come to expect failure and submission.

Despite all that, Ross has relished the opportunity, never sought to make excuses, maintained his composure, never been other than intelligent and thoughtful. What's more, his leadership has meant that these players, whatever their limitations, have never shirked the challenge.

Not all is perfect. He more than anyone will know that. He knows those who part with the their hard earned money want entertainment.

But, as we head for the run in, it's about time we recognised the job he has done and set about stripping away the pessimism that seems to be our default setting.

(P.S. Written in post six nations euphoria.)

Can play lousy for me, as long as we get points and get out of this league cudna gi a fcuk.

Nah, we probably have the best first 11 in the league, yet we are creating absolutely nothing.

He needs to work out what he wants from the three in the middle and stick with it. Games come thick and fast now. Bit of momentum is needed or we aren't overtaking the top two.

Momentum ? Only lost two league games so far man.

It's February on the North East coast with sub zero temperatures, playing a team who play anti-football and people are talking about entertainment?

I want us to entertain, I want us to pepper their goal and get more shots on target. The reality is though at any level it's rare we've been able to do that nevermind in the third tier in February when a side have come to try and stop us from doing it. Of course things could be better but people really need a reality check at times. Remember Roy Keane's prawn sandwich rant and what that was all about? I think some of ours would do well to take a bit of stock from that, though I'm pretty sure someone will miss the point and say we weren't playing Antwerp or whoever in the CL.
