Jack Clarke

Quality player who took a gamble coming to us when he had championship offers when we were in league 1

Listened to a great podcast with him said when he came to Sunderland took him
15-20 games to get he’s confidence going

Also said how settled he was up here and he visited he’s family a lot who were from York if I remember rightly

Big mistake leaving

Some groups of Ipswich fans now turning on Jack. Must eat him alive thinking how much he was loved here and was on course for another good season with a team who played to his strengths. I suspect had he stayed he would have signed a new contract and been on course to tackle the premier league with us. Just goes to show the grass isn’t always greener!

His work rate here was exceptional. He tracked back resolutely and put the effort in for the team.

Poor decision (fed by his 🦈 agent) to move and even if he’s counting the ‘sausages and cash’ now, my suspicion would be he’d rather be here. Even if we were still in the champo.

He’s a confidence player being totally misused by his manager and been hung out to dry by him on numerous occasions last season. Confidence shot. Some players are just suited to certain clubs and he thrived here. Go get him, one round of “Clarke will tear you apart again” will sort him out.

Ed Sheeran can write a song about it .

I think he’d do well in our system - playing on the break

Also, had the privilege of seeing the QPR goal. Perfect fit for the club, Ian Harte is a cúnt.

Perfect storm

1. Huge step up
2. Being asked to play a different role while making huge step up
3. Confidence diminishing as a result of 1 and 2
