Jack Clarke

Awful move in my opinion, and one the lad may well rue.

However, ya do get the feeling his options were limited and we were keen on the sale.
100% thought Ipswich had our pants down re. Price and I was very much in the “why the fuck has he gone there” Now the dust has settled I don’t think it’s that bad of a move. As you say I don’t think the options our red and white tinted glasses had in our sights for him were there.

I think he'd have been happy to stay had we made the effort to keep him.

He should have stayed and played for us on a much lower wage and be stuck in Championship limbo for years, best for his career that.

Leaving was all about timing for him.
The consensus seems to be there is a decent chance he might get relegated this season whilst we go the other way.
For a man who made such a sacrifice to drop two division's and to build himself into one of top players in division that would be a shame, creating the esteem he was held in at this club is not easy… he has to do it all over again at Ipswich. Then again we might not get promoted, and he might become their best player.
Lots of mights and maybes, it’s all pure speculation and time will tell. In the meantime his bank balance has had a positive impact…. But then he never joined Sunderland for money so just how important is it to him?

It’s clear as day what happend with Clarke. Wasn’t as much interest in him as expected in the summer, he agrees a new contract with the club which Harte uses as bait to any club who had been half sniffing about and tells Clarke not to sign the one with Sunderland. The club feel messed about and now feel like they have been used and accept the bid off Ipswich which wouldn’t have likely been accepted earlier on in the window and now Clarke has little to no choice but to go. Only one winner which is Ian Harte who finally got his payday!

I think you may well have hit the nail on the head.

It's not clear as day, it's pure speculation, a few long stretches, and a bit of conspiricy theory thrown in. No doubt to be regurgitated as fact by someone further down the line. IMO.

It’s the most logical argument I’ve heard.

He might be thinking I've had two very good seasons in the Championship, if there's a 3rd season here are there going to be any better opportunities in the Premier League for me if Sunderland don't go up? I'm sure he backs his ability to do well and worst case scenario is he ends up back in the Championship on a bigger wage and in a team that should be equipped to go for promotion.

You'd have thought the penny would've dropped with harte being his agent
If Jack is after the money hartes done a cracking job with Leeds to spurs then a bit of a hit coming here , we've then resurrected his career to then become an Ipswich reserve that will be relegated
But ££££££s in

He isn't an Ipswich reserve

Aye but he’d have been playing infront of big crowds man. Fuck his bank balance.

A lot of what is posted is posted through red and white sunglasses
People only see these situations through the eyes of a middle/old aged MLF. The type of opinions only a man of experience would have and not of a young lad that hasn’t made a mistake in his life yet.

The only way to get logic out of them is by making up a scenario in which Clarke was playing for say WBA or Preston, then watch their opinions change. Most would jump at the chance to go to Ipswich then.

This is just conspiratorial nonsense tbf. You don't know how likely any of that is. You've found your pantomime villain and are putting a convenient spin on it. Jack had nothing to lose by going to Ipswich. Worst comes to worst hell be coming down next season and play championship football again, but on better terms. Best case scenario he takes a spot in the starting eleven, proves himself, and gets a move to another premiership side (IF Ipswich were to be relegated). It's too early to say either way whether it was a good or a bad move -- many more games ahead.
