Jack Clarke

Mundle's form could plummet and we may end up missing Clarke more but I think it's fair to say (at this moment in time) we aren't as weak at LW as I and many others thought we would be with him leaving!

If Mundle can produce this type of level over a season then we've done very well from the deal.
That's the problem though!

He wasn't amazing was he?
Very good solid player for us and knew where to put the ball however not amazing.
Struggled to defend, easy to mark out of games and work out with predictability.
We sold at a very good price and will struggle in the prem and is a lower half of this division player.

Very good footballer but hardly amazing.

He was an amazing Championship player.

Couldn't tackle though.
He made a more than average number of tackles in the final third for us. Beyond that, you don’t need your wingers to be tackling in your defensive areas.

Defenders do that and wingers mark players, passing lanes and space.

You rely on the quality of a defender in the defensive area. And the quality of an attacker in the attacking area
I can see why you lads ravesd about him , he has the makings of a very, very good player- kieth , we have seen ( sour grapes on yr part ). more than enough of him to know very shortly he's gonna be a first on the team sheet. Look lads if it were you , not the tractors how would you done after the four fixtures ? Come Keith remove your head
He’s a smashing player. I think your style will suit him. I see the goals against Man City and Delap’s pinger and think in those transitional moments, Clarke can be deadly

Irrespective as to whether it works at Ipswich or not , it clear the lad is qualitity, his entrance each time has marked an improvement in our game. Sure it must hurt to lose a player like that - we've been there done that. I wish the Mackems all the best , and hope your premier league next year, i really do.

Great to hear how he’s doing. It’s hard to find highlights that include him so far due to the limited game time so thanks for that

He's everything THIS board said he was / is , a good player - he'll be courted by bettet teams than us shortly.

To be fair mate we've had some quality player's off your area , Gates ( one of the best player's i've ever seen) - Muhren and Thijjsen will tell you he was a class act, Edwards , Leadbitter and ( i'll get shot down for this ) Colbeck

He really wasn't and defenders struggled to do anything with him.

To be honest mate, I'm flabbergasted that a Sunderland fan would post the above considering how well Clarke played for us. He deserves a hell of a lot more respect than that. He's a fantastic footballer, and in terms of entertainment, he's one of the most exciting players I've seen play for SAFC.
He’s left now man so that means he was always shite.

Unfortunately he isn't much. He's mostly a bench warmer for a poor Ipswich side. I'm sure he'll get his chance and then we'll see if he can cut it at that level with that club.

Early days but you can't knock Mundle. Excellent performances and more goals than Clarke would have scored. 3 in 3 games is better than Clarke ever achieved here.
Just to say, we’re not a poor side. We were statistically one of the best teams in championship history last year and have played well in all four games with a horrible run of early fixtures (Liverpool, Man City and Brighton in the first four games is a terrible start). Play how we have done in these first four games and we won’t be in the bottom 5 let alone 3.

As for Clarke, he’s done well for us off the bench but he’s clearly likely to be a starter soon. At the moment it’s between him and Szmodics on the left who let’s remember was the top scorer in the Championship last season. Clarke signed for us right at the end of the transfer window so I’m not sure why you would think he’d walk straight into the team? To just say because it’s Szmodics in these first few games who’s been starting that Clarke is therefore only a bench warmer is abit unfair on him when he was always going to spend the first month or two on the bench to start with. That’s just natural for a new signing.

He was electric when he came on the other day against Brighton and I actually think on that basis probably starts next Saturday at Southampton.
No good dealing in facts man.

Loads on here have already decided Clarke wasnt that good and mundle is better
It’s spoken out of bitterness. In a similar way when we beat you twice last year a lot on here we’re adamant we would fall away.

I like Sunderland and I like this forum (hence why I’m still here years after both us and yourselves got out of league 1 which was when I’d originally joined) but there does seem to be a willingness for us to go down because in some weird way that would prove them right that we weren’t ever that good. Likewise Clarke not starting games allows the chance to suggest it was a bad move for him, we’re be going down, you’ll be a league above in a year etc. it’s just abit unnecessary. It was a decent move for all parties, your issue if anything ought to be the fee being too low.

Nothing against you or Ipswich but I think the majority here couldn't care less.

You are poor Premier League side.

You were poor against Liverpool. Your manager thought he could outplay them 😂

You got beat 4-1 off City, had 24% possession and 1 shot in 90 minutes.

You are looking like certaincies for relegation at present.
