Wouldn't have expected any different performance wise as he was a model professional throughout his time here. The whole point of my post I will try and explain to you in a more simple manner as you don’t seem to get it.
Clarke was happy at Sunderland. He was not pushing for a move away from the club.
His agent was working to get a move for Clarke. When Clarke was told what Ipswich was offering, premier league football, at least 2-3 times more salary and the opportunity to test yourself against the best players. He would have very little ambition to turn that down. Yes he could have said I don’t want to play at the highest level and I will still sit on 10k a week instead of 40k a week. Not sure anyone would turn that down unless they have a bump on the head?
Clarke never orchestrated a move away. He could have downed tools if he wanted away.
Maybe you don’t have much ambition in life and that’s fine. Perhaps that’s why you don’t my point.
Maybe. We will never know but his performances didn’t show a bloke who wanted to leave
