Jack Clarke

Absolute rubbish, doesn’t stop other clubs getting proper fees.

Indeed but there is not a shred of evidence that he’s strong armed us for a move to Ipswich.
Why does he have to have "strong armed" us? Could it not just be as simple as he asked us to let him talk to PL clubs that that bid a certain amount (in this case, £20m) and we said "alright" as we didn't want to stand in his way? Just because he didn't kick up a stink doesn't mean he didn't want the move. It just means we didn't stand in his way.

He didn’t hand in a transfer request.

hmm… I’m not sure how else I can say this as I don’t speak any other languages

WE DIDNT HAVE TO SELL HIM.

If Ipswich weren’t prepared to meet our asking price then we don’t have to lower it. They should be making us an offer we can’t refuse if they want to take our best player. We sold an injured Ross Stewart with only 6 months on his contract left for £10m. In what f***ing world is a fit and in form Jack Clarke who has 2 years left on his contract only worth £15m?
The club is obviously skint & needed the money in to bring players in. There may also have been a release clause in his contract.

Yes, that is entirely plausible, but this isn’t £20m it’s £15m plus add ons (that almost certainly won’t be guaranteed otherwise it’s an instalment not an add on) and if someone agreed we’d sell him for £15m they deserve to be dragged out into the street and showered in shite.

I think the first bit is true and I feel a tiny bit sorry for Speakman. If he has to sell Clarke to buy others he’s between a rock and a hard place but should still have demanded a proper fee.

If it was a release clause the club would have said cos it’d paint them in a far better light.

In which case why have other 'bigger' clubs not put in bids around the same mark? If any half decent Premier league team had, he wouldn't be joining Ipswich.
I’m not suggesting he should be going to a better team, just that he’s been sold relatively cheap. Maybe it’s my rose-tinted glasses but I’d argue he’s worth more than Jacob Greaves or Omari Hutchison.

Well as far as I’m aware the club hasn’t said a peep about anything yet.

It’s not rubbish at all you start getting in their way of big moves for more money we will get a bad reputation and young players won’t want to come incase we don’t let them move on to bigger things

It was the discussion I was having. I said Rigg may in time. None of the others listed as in Patterson, Neil, Ballard nor Jobe have or will have a higher ceiling than Clarke.

If they have, they will be wanted. They're not , or they'd be gone.
Jobe definitely has a higher ceiling than Clarke... Ceiling means future potential, potential to play a very high level. Rigg and Jobe are likely to eventually play for Champions League clubs. Clarke, Neil, Ballard, and Patto are at a very similar level for me - likely to peak at mid table PL quality. If Patto can sort his feet out, then he might be the best of that bunch. Hume and Cirkin might test the PL as well. If Rigg or Jobe only every reach mid table in the PL, highest market values around 25m, I would find that very surprising. I think they'll both eventually be worth 40 to 50m and hopefully it's with us for at least three or four years before then.

It is rubbish, it doesn’t impact any other club. All we’ve done here is send a message to other clubs that they can pull our pants down.

In a world when that is what people are prepared to pay for him.

One of my neighbours is convinced his house is worth £2m and has had it on the market for nearly 2 years (it’s not worth £2m).
We decide his value. If I offered you a fiver for your house and it was the only bid you received does that mean your house is only worth a fiver and so you must accept my offer and move out? Or can you tell me to piss off? And not sell unless I come back with what you regard to be a reasonable offer?

Perhaps Clarke was not the sought after player we thought. His no-show against Newcastle may have put off potential suitors.
He's never been hugely sought after. If you look at the bids Burnley etc were making before they were low/mid teens at best

He scored two v Fulham which is good. I think it's more his lack of PL experience, he needs to prove it. Also he is superb at dribbling and running into space, but if your team dominates play there often isn't much of that.

I think he'll suit Ipswich as they play in "transition" so much
