Jack Clarke

Not what's been reported:

"The finishing touches are being put on a deal that will see Norwich earn a guaranteed £14m, including a loan fee, as well as a potential £3m worth of add-ons based on both player and club performance. City have also inserted a 25pc sell-on clause into the deal."

Fair enough mate, I guess that does include the loan fee. I won't pretend to know any more then anyone else, just what my housemate said. Romano has said 13m, but potentially there was another bid after this?

They won't get the 13m until next summer though as he's off on loan first, which doesn''t strike me as especially helpful for us in our situation if we were to do similar with Clarke (beside the point I know)

I don’t doubt he’d be a huge miss, but I don’t think you can attribute Clarke’s good work for 3 of them.

First one, wins a free kick. Fairly standard for most wingers tbf.
Second one, not really involved other than the press (the whole team were).
Third one, gets the short corner and plays it square to Rigg. Pretty good but fairly standard pass.
Fourth one, good run and cross. I’ll give you that one.
Watch the game/highlights back. Clarke ran the show. Couldn't handle him all afternoon.

So he was involved in 3 goals. Thanks for that
You’re very welcome, but you didn’t say involved though, you said the 3 goals came from good work by Clarke. That suggests he played a fairly key role in 3 of them.

I’d argue it was only 1 of the 4 he was key in.

Again, I’m not doubting he will be a big miss - it was more his work towards the end of the game that impressed me the most.

thought we turned down 17 million from Southampton, seems ridiculous fee in my view after the spurs cut its around 11 million.

All I can think of is that they really struggling for financial fair play. His replacement will be that loan player from Russia.

Absolutely stinks considering the great start we have had. Can’t say Mundle is the answer got the composure of an elephant on roller skates in the final third.
I’ve read somewhere Ipswich are willing to pay more up front than in other offers

It’s not about having one individual who can win a match on their own though. It’s about doing it as a team.

Last year all we did was give it to Clarke and hope. If he had a bad game, so did the team.

This year (so far) there’s more of a focus on getting the other team mates involved in the attack. Clarke was by far our only goal threat last year, this year he has one out of the six.

It seems to me that we’re mixing it up with set pieces and getting bodies in the box. We’ve moved on from just hoping our wingers show a bit of magic by themselves.

You really shouldn't judge a season based on 2 games, against 2 teams who were absolutely awful aswell.

Unless we're rewriting history now, we got 9/45 points at the end of last season when Clarke was injured / recovering from it.

Other than changing the head coach (the rest of the staff are the same) everything else is pretty much literally the same. We're now selling our only goal threat last season...

It’s not OK, but we all knew what their game plan was/is, us as fans just have to accept that we’re now a feeder club for the likes of Ipswich Town.
Why should we “accept it” ? This is the problem with this club, far too many supporters “accept it” ! Ohh but we have nice new Hummel kits (that nobody can now purchase)

I’m not. It’s why I said ‘so far’. Things can change for the worse or better obviously.

I’ve said it elsewhere, wait to see what happens end of the window before furiously typing away imo.

Nope. When he won the free kick he had already glided past a couple of players. Cos he makes it look easy, people who don't really understand football think it's easy. 3rd goal he has there players on the backfoot cos they are shitting it off the roasting he is giving them, makes a bit space ,plays it to Rigg. Last goal, fantastic wing play.

Every team outside of the top 10 is a feeder club to some degree.

Have seen comparisons with the Bent sale - for me, this doesn't feel as bad. I was actually surprised he was still here and had a chance of staying this season. Going into the summer I thought he would have been long gone.

Good luck to the lad, he has been a model pro in his time here right until the end. He deserves a shot at the Prem and the wages that come with it.

We aren't going to replace him man for man but we need to find a way of improving the team and squad to make up for his loss - over to Speakman and the club as to what happens next. This surely has been planned for.

he's going for less money than Bent did 15 years ago man. Penny pinching wasters.

I was being ironic, however there is absolutely jackshit we can do about it, life goes on, it gets easier to accept as you get older and experience the regular let downs by SAFC.

We’ll make 18-20 in the long run from this sale after add ons and sell on. That’s exactly what the club wanted for him and told him they’d accept to not stand in his way for PL football.

Now we get time to spend it. Yes we don’t get it all up front but if you’re aware of an incoming cash flow you can spend in advance.
Where's the money gone for Robertson and Cotcher, i'd be shocked if that aint over £1m
