Jack Clarke

85 games in the championship, 24 goals and 16 assists over 2 seasons. 15 goals last year and 4 assists I think before I get quoted. Goals are going to be the biggest miss.

Don’t worry you will get people coming along in a bit to say most of them were penalties.

How much less would he be worth next year? A good season and he’d still be a 15m quid sale. It’s not like they’ve offered so much we couldn’t refuse.

I’m just boggled they’ve sold the lad for what may well be 11m quid approximately, yet for that 11m quid we’ve ripped our most productive player out of the team.

And it’s not like Clarke wasn’t productive or being arsey because he didn’t get a move or a pay rise earlier, he’d have kept giving his best this year.

We are now in the position that we’ve lost our highest goal scorer and most creative threat from last season so have weakened ourselves massively for relative buttons
Exactly. People are going on as if him only a year to go on his contract would half his value.

It's a crap deal all around in my opinion.

There are variables with all transfers - Ross Stewart couldn't walk and we got £10M for him. The point is, Jack's transfer fee is not an absurdly low figure and clubs in the Championship are selling good players in this ball park (price wise), frequently.
I bet we see more money from the sale of Clarke than Leeds see of Rutter's sale to Brighton. Smoke and mirrors, PSR rules being bent everywhere, FFP fucked, not that it matters anymore, game's gone.

You're argument was about him flopping and I said if that were to be the case we got what was right for him.
Yes, the way he plays and the way Ipswich want to play are likely going to be very different to the way they're forced to play. What we got wasn't right for him. He's been one of, if not the best player in the championship for the last 2 years. When you look at other players leaving this division for the prem, what we received is not even close to the going rate.

We've had our pants pulled down, and should expect similarly low offers next summer for Ballard nowt that we've shown ourselves to be a soft touch

Not at all. But just because we sell a player doesn't mean it gets reinvested, or with our approach that it is reinvested well. I have no issue with him wanting to play in the prem, but the fee has to be right for what he is worth to us. 15mil as stated in most outlets up front is low, minus 25% for spurs, even lower to replace comfortably our best player with anyone half decent
As I said previously, you and probably everyone else on here and a lot of the media for that fact, have no idea what the finances were for the Clarke deal, but dont let that stop you getting in a strop about it. Also, you and nearly everyone else have no idea re the Ross Stewart fee, but once again, get outraged, knock yourself out :)

Thats not true though, the point I am making is the poster is saying Clarke doesn't want to move and we are forcing him out.

We didn't force the likes of Bent, Henderson and Jones out.
But we did. Especially in the case of the last two.

Henderson & his father for definite wanted another year here. Bruce and Quinny said sorry son, we're taking the money, and so off he went.

Jones was in tears clearing out his locker.
