Jack Clarke

Either way there hasn’t been anything from the club to try and keep him there. I know we’ve spunked ridiculous money in the past but I don’t think a 10k pay rise is a stupid amount? Or is it?

It’s not mate. It would have brought Clarke in line with players like Simms etc

SBC could've negotiated a higher fee than that, man. It's an absolute rock bottom price for one of the best players in the division who's best years are still well ahead of him
I do agree but think teams know we are just skint and desperate. Things like not putting him in the kit launches and not putting him in the squad leadership group were huge signs he was away.

sunderland can't have nice things, must sell our best player cheap to buy strikers. Joke.

I dont know

You tell me, come on then

As you are obviously one of the comedians who thinks they know about what happens with the finances at the club
Not at all. But just because we sell a player doesn't mean it gets reinvested, or with our approach that it is reinvested well. I have no issue with him wanting to play in the prem, but the fee has to be right for what he is worth to us. 15mil as stated in most outlets up front is low, minus 25% for spurs, even lower to replace comfortably our best player with anyone half decent

This was to be expected for the model we have. Ross Stewart was sold for good money after he scored all our goals, now weve done the same with Jack Clarke after doing similar..this will always happen until we get to the Premier then it all changes as were on a level playing field in money terms.....

Mundle, Watson, Poveda....Isidor? there is plenty of potential to fill the void and hopefully we will soon forget about Clarke, thats the way it has to be unfortunately
Except we haven't, 15 mill is a joke

Aye. All very revealing but also utterly depressing.

It’s the wrong move at the wrong time for the lad driven by his scummy agent. He should have stayed put until January and would have had better clubs after him. He won’t be at Ipswich long

Then don't sell him. Play hard ball, if a club wants him then they have to pay the going rate.

I'll never understand this attitude of Sunderland and Sunderland fans of rushing as fast as we can to put ourselves down, bend over and take it up the arse off anyone and everyone.

There is no sane person in football that would agree that Clarke's current market value is £15m. No one.

If no one is offering £25m then don't sell. Anyone who comes in for him gets a quick reply saying the price is £25m, minimum. If you don't like it, fuck off. We aren't desperate to sell, we aren't bankrupt, we are stable and we know the value of our players. Come back with a serious offer and we can talk. Play the f***ing game and stand up for ourselves. Be tough.

They've bent over and took it up royally up the hoop , yet again
This. We've just royally had our pants down.

I agree with all of this but it’s obvious the club is skint. Was it KLD or Speakman telling supporters in Benidorm that the money was there for a striker?

Gutted.

We all knew it was coming, I just expected more in terms of the initial fee. The most productive player in the Championship in the last couple of years going for only £15 million is a steal.

No hard feelings towards Jack though. He came in down to League 1 to reignite his career, and he's done it.

I just hope they invest the money in players that have some experience and quality, rather than gambling on a Ba / Michut / Lihadji type of player. We need an immediate replacement, not a project.
Agree with this but my concern is that they haven’t effectively replaced Stewart yet so I’m not holding out much hope of them replacing Clarke

Rutter 40m - 48 games, 7 goals, 15 assists
Jack Clarke 15m + 5m add ons - 40 games, 15 goals, 4 assists, plus 9 goals and 12 assists the previous season.

How is one worth 40m and the other worth 20m? I get the feeling we have been desperate for any sort of fee to cover improved contracts and pay for other transfers. So much for the money being there 👀

Exactly mate and some still don’t get it. There are others who aren’t as good, ie Scott £25m to Bournemouth last year, Summerville, Hutchinson as well as Rutter. The absolute minimum we should have sold Clarke for eas £25m plus add ons.

I've expected him to leave all summer. When a Premier league comes knocking there's usually little you can do. In this case there was a lot we could've done.

The summer had gone quite well imo, solid signings, I really like RLB. A far cry from the last couple of windows. Even with the expectation of Clarke leaving I figured we'd get good money - we haven't. We've been shown up as a joke, who are willing to be walked over.

Both are full of shit. Always have been and always will be.

And other clubs will know this, we’ve hardly been shy about our “sustainability”. It’ll be even more prevalent now we’ve accepted this bid.

Someone highlighted before we paid more for ndong than what we will be getting as a fee from Ipswich. That was 2016. Unbelievable really.
