Jack Clarke

What happened to the contract extension? Anyway, it was inevitable he'd go. However it should have been an opportunity to bring in a big fee and reinvest it in quality that helps us take the next step. It's now clear the plan is to sell one player each summer and spread that money as thinly as possible in the hope they find the next Jack Clarke to sell in a few years time. They're literally keeping their head above the water.
This is it.
Stewart payed for last season.
Clarke is paying for this season.
Who will it be next season, Neil Jobe, Rigg...🤷‍♂️

Never forget that Ipswich got promoted from league one, leap frogged us into the premier league and have now poached our best player. Farcical.
What's farcical about it?

It's a very rare footballing success story, we very nearly achieved it the year before but unfortunately too many injuries denied us.

Good luck to them and Jack, he's done us proud but deserves a chance to shine in the top league.

They also spend loads of money on players which people want on here, which is financed mainly by selling.
People want us to spend more money on players because generally you get a better player for £5m than you do for £2m.

All stems from Fabrizio tweeting, he’s rarely wrong with his info mate.
Agreed a deal though I read that but nothing about him actually going.
Any good luck to him,we move on.
At least wasn't on last day of the window.

But that’s every non-parachute championship club. We all have to sell to buy.

True, but it’s sell to buy in the championship. Cov and boro have recouped tens of millions each in sales.

The reality is once we get promoted and eventually we will, we will do the exact same thing and pick best players from the championship which we will hope will have a go if not, will allow us to bounce straight back up. It is what it is. Wish the lad all the best. Absolutely gutted he's leaving but me move on. We been here before
Last time we looked like going up the club didn't bother to strengthen and said we weren't ready to go up. As if it was an option

Every championship club without parachute payments are selling before they buy. It’s the way of football these days
It doesn’t matter what other clubs are doing, KLD is supposed to be a billionaire, we’ve been played by Ipswich because of naive business acumen.

Nowt to donwith business acumen. It's because the club were desperate to sell because KLD and sartori wouldn't pay a transfer fee for a striker etc.

Reading between the lines, it was verbally agreed, then Harte has advised Clarke not to sign it until the end of the window. I suspect it’s been used as a tool to get clubs to firm up interest in Clarke unfortunately. Ipswich have come in and with Clarke not signing the deal the club thought was agreed, we have accepted.

This one hurts like Clarke has been tremendous for us soon as we were after isidor the writing was on the wall before someone says he’s a striker player just as much of he’s career on the left intact he’s scored more goals from the left

Back to Clarke the lad was fantastic for us and I’ve got a feeling a lot of this is down to Harte instigating a move obviously we can’t compete with prem wages and the attractions of the premier league but this to me is a terrible move for him but i which him all the best

The fee is be surprised if it’s only 15 million then add ons in todays market one thing speakman and kld are is quite clever with fees seen that with Stewart and lihadji

But we go again wish Clarke all the best and welcome isidor to the club he’s got some big boots to fill

The reason we looked like going up was amad. We couldn't afford to buy him and man utd refused to let him go back out on loan.
The result of amad not being back took alot of goals way and especially how well roberts played. We were fucked 2nd half of last season and the managerial decisions fucked it up even more.

Spot on. People talk as if the model allows us to improve as a whole and move forward. So far the evidence suggests is self sustainable just means tread water but the transfers pay for themselves by selling a big player every summer.
I'll be honest, I thought that's exactly how it was going to work and I think most of us did. I've said all along that selling players was something we'd have to get used to and the big test would be how we replace them. There's probably plenty of assets in the squad for them to do this for a few years yet. If we sign who we're linked with using the Clarke money though there seems to have been a change in the type they're going for. If they start buying players with little sell on value on higher wages they'll eventually run out of assets to sell.
