We're all likely to agree on here that Clarke is better but Summerville won the division player of the season, had 9 more goal contributions than Clarke, is a year younger and has played a reasonable number of top flight games. We should be in the same ball park as the Summerville fee, certainly nowhere near £10m under it but I can't imagine we'll get more for Clarke than Leeds did for Summerville. I can't get my head around Brighton paying so much for Rutter mind, no matter whether it was his release fee or not.Whilst I agree with you in my opinion Clarke is a better player than Rutter and Summerville. But….no one has got anywhere near the figures those lads went for. And we don’t seem to have had much interest either this summer. It’s a strange one.
I think a lot of it will depend on what the club has previously promised Clarke to keep him happy, I'd be surprised if he or Harte hasn't previously been told a number they'd accept. Unless they're absolutely mental it'll be a lot more than £15m up front tho!If we are genuinely wanting promotion, but accepting every player has a sale price, the lad shouldn’t be sold for any less than £30m.
