Jack Clarke

And when he played for Leeds, Stoke and QPR
We all know players improve, the problem we have with that is the options you've stated are rusyn (who is about 26) and now looks even worse than when he signed.

Ba who I think gets over the top criticism but he certainly isn't going to deliver consistent performers.

Mundle looks most likely to get the spot and even he's very hot and cold. Like Clarke I don't think it'll click for him just yet.

Alot of the discontent we have is fans wanting a promotion challenge every year and the club being far more relaxed about it. We could lose some big players in the next season or two without a promotion.

Or we could get promoted this season. With or without clarke. I think you are doing the players already in the building a disservice

Right. I’ve just spent half an hour discussing this with my educated son. He reckons we want a £25m profit so should nt sell for less than £30m.
I agreed as we both agree that Jack Clarke is one of the best players we have had here in our lifetimes.
Yes he is.
So, we want £30 m or we don’t do business.
If you don’t agree, just remember the way he finished that move at Reading……..Class.

Want to be careful dragging out too much. Getting millions in with a few days left of the window and then trying to spend it can be a recipe for disaster.
Spot on mate. I want it done for as much as possible asap so we have time to bring the right players in. We don’t want to be scrambling about on deadline day with clubs doubling the price for average ones when they know we’re desperate.

We do , but we become significantly stronger up front and across the piece.
The players we will have signed with the cash will be with us for 3 years, we have extended current valuable players contracts matching that thus allowing maturity.
We had a "5 year plan " ( allegedly ) , if this is year 4 we're closer with the new lads than with just Clarke. Splash out on one expensive chess piece next season to replace him ( maybe even Mundle might be ready then ) , better than keeping him and hoping 3 new signings come off in the 'big push ' year .
Of course id rather keep him, splash on the others and do it this year, but finances might be finances and maybe one or two necessary others are not quite peak meaning we'd fall short . Hope he stays , we sign the others and look like Real Madrid Youth .
Yeah I get the logic in selling to reinvest to improve the team as a whole..I do worry at the fees quoted and a chunky sell on fee for spurs that we won't have a huge sum of money to spend. But then we don't want to lose him for nothing in two years.

Could be interesting few days ahead.

It'll be Dan Neil being sold next summer with a year left on his deal to pay for 2 defenders and a winger no doubt
Ugh - hope not. We've done a great job of signing up Patto, Rigg, Jobe, Ballard etc - would like to see Dan sign a new deal soon. But selling players for a profit has to be a tool at our disposal when it makes sense. If a big enough offer comes, there are arguments to be made that it makes sense to sell Clarke now.
This, lads got 2 years on his contract.
Really, it's a valid option and if Clarke himself isn't asking for a move, the it's possibly the best one. If he's happy staying and nobody offers 30m or whatever we feel is undeniable, just keep him. Sign strikers - challenge for promotion. As many have said, he could probably garner close to 15m even in the last year of his contract.
