Jack Clarke

Be gutted if he goes but if does I wish him well , he’s always put in a shift and never moaned , he’s not from the area , so long as every penny goes to the manager , shit happens . Signing a very good striker may have helped persuade him we are serious for promotion

£15m plus add ons, for someone with 2 years left on their contract is a good offer when you compare it to the £25m Leeds got for Summerville who is better and younger.

Deal needs to be done sooner rather than later to allow the funds to be reinvested in the squad before the deadline...that's assuming any funds are available to be reinvested.
I know £15mill probably seems like a lot for you, but the rest of us don't count on webbed fingers

You'll have to counter that into your exchange

York has more connections to Sunderland than say Ipswich does

Of course it does if you need the money. Whilst i'm speculating here, that could be why the Mendy deal has stalled. We only have the means to pay x up front, and the rest in instalments; they want the lot up front.

I'd guess our transfer strategy this summer has been based on selling an asset, so you'd think something is going to have to give at some point.

Still, i think £15m is too low. But if that is a genuine opening bid, they'll probably be willing to go higher.
We have a rich owner. If he doesn't want to pay money that's up to him.

However, if you're in it for the long term as long the cash is guaranteed the payment terms really don't matter.

It’s all relative, £5m say for Ekwah would be big money whilst it’d have to be over £25m for Clarke to be considered big money

Aye, but once West Ham have their cut, £3m doesn't give us much to play with. £15m cash (on the basis that we were to sell for £20m up front and factor in Spurs cut), is an entirely different matter.

I think at this point you just prepare for the worst and whatever happens happens.

Any hope of achieving something this season ends if Clarke goes this late.

I don't think it's that bleak.

If we add real firepower up top and continue to see the type of midfield shape and performance from the weekend I think we have a chance.

Yes we would miss Clarke, he is a cracking player, but it's not all doom imo, and it gives some of the other lads an opportunity.

The thing that would be shite is if we sold him cheap, big money or no deal.

I have a bad feeling that if this offer is genuine and upfront cash (rather than paying in instalments like most transfers now are), £15m might not be that wide of the mark to what we might be willing to consider.

The lack of signings for money, dithering over the Mendy fee etc, suggests we aren't exactly flush at the moment.
I don't think it's a matter of how much money we have, it's how much we value a player, we wanted Mendy evidently, but we're also right to not pay more than what we believed his value is, just as we shouldn't sell JC for any less than £25-30m

irrespective of how much KLD is worth 'on paper,' it is clear as day that the club is being ran in an sustainable manner. He isn't going to be pumping millions in, unfortunately.

It's a terrible offer. Especially with the cut going to Spurs. Zero chance of us accepting it.

We've said repeatedly we won't sell on the cheap. We got top cash for Ross Stewart.

I didn't say he would. But he won't be having his pants pulled down by Ipswich either.

I don’t want to say he’s irreplaceable, in a team game everyone is replaceable, but selling him for less than £30 million would be crackers & makes the prospect of progression this season a lot less likely. Seems an odd one for Ipswich based on their system from last season - feels like they’re just stockpiling assets for when they come down.

Loosing Jack Clarke this late on could potentially balls our season up. So if he’s going we’ve got to be looking at 25 million plus, anything less and it’s pointless
Not sure where all the negativity has come from and people ready to believe he is off.

I think he'll stay and sign a new contract personally, the good start has been a big help.

He has two years left and we aren't desperate to sell and he isn't desperate to leave. If he does, as you say will be £25+mill imo and we'll have a replacement en route.

If he plays Saturday he won't go imo

He’s not going to pump millions in to buy players but he is already pumping millions in to keep us from debt. The expectation loss is between £10m to £20 m per season. Hard to be sustainable with those losses.
