Jack Clarke

25m I think he’s away. He’s not signing a contract and we will want a return for him.

This is the model sadly.

I was resigned to him leaving before the season kicked off. Watching him these last two games has reminded me just how good the lad is.
This is the main thing. People are deluded if they think the club don't want to sell.

A player getting offers around £20m who they have no intention of paying the wage to give a new contract to and he's coming into the final 2 years of his deal

Are the club allowed to say to him, look we don’t think your agent has his best interest for you. He is clearly doing this for money in his pocket not yours.

Or would that be “against the rules”
They don’t even need to say that, just tell him he’s not for sale until next summer and reject any offers that come in for him. Offer new deal 1st September.

I don't even think he'd go to Ipswich

I reckon it might be quite appealing to him mate. He had a big move when he was young and it was a disaster.

Although he’d be in a relegation battle, a lot of Ipswich fans will cut him slack as they will know he can help them get promoted if they do drop.

Hes been with Harte for years. All the evidence suggests he's happy with his work
Aye but after the window, what happens if the club say these stories came out in the press. We never got a bid off them. It’s clear the stories appear after other interest dies off. We don’t think he has the best interest in your future.

At £25m the club and Clarke have a real decision to make. Until it gets to £25m we should be telling them to stop wasting our time

Leeds have just got £40m for Rutter. A forward who scored 6 goals in 57 appearances for Leeds.

If Sunderland accepted £25m for Clarke it would be a disgrace, and it would not bode very well at all for the future prospects of building a successful team.

Harte has been doing this for over a year and continues to keep doing it. Clarke stays with him and has been for years, he obviously is happy with his work. This isn't a new thing that harte is doing publicly.

Never got this ‘add ons’ craic??

So we’ll get a further £XM if he scores 20 goals? They stay up?

Where’s the incentive for the selling team?

What if they don’t stay up, or what if Clarke falls one goal short of his goal/assist target? The selling club just get no further money? So the fee then drops back to £15M instead of the inflated £20M?

How would that benefit us?

The worry is, its the sort of thing thats added on when the two clubs are close to a valuation to tempt the selling club over the edge?

He's our most creative, exciting, productive player he wins games he pretty much guarantees goals in this division. Without him we won't push for promotion.

I would try and keep him this year to help us get promoted. If we do then sell him as I don’t think he is a premier league player. Top championship player but I think this is his level.

I'd suggest that they don't want to sell him NOW and they'll be encouraged by his stance that he's happy here.

If he won’t sign a contract there will be a price though, reports suggest thats around £25m. I’d love them to just say not for sale regardless of contract, but we know that won’t happen
