Ivan Toney

Agree about Duran, the defending was appalling and he was just knocking the ball around defenders who can’t defend, and running onto it.

Ronaldo is 40 though, testament to him still doing what he loves at that age. He couldn’t do it week in week out no more in the top leagues so plays in Saudi, get paid ridiculously and saves himself for Portugal. If you’re going to go to Saudi and take the money do it at the end of your career.
Ronaldo could quite easily have continued playing at a decent standard and earning very good money. Not that he needs another penny. It’s a massive mark against his legacy imo.

The MLS is light years ahead of the Saudi league. And the standard is America isn't that good. Yet players and coaches going to Saudi Arabia are saying it's as good Ligue 1!!!
Is it horse, I’ve watched probably 10 or so games live so far this season I’d say it League One/SPL or lower champ at best
There’s some very technical players but that’s few, each team has a weak point even the big 3

Lower Championship level pisses on the SPL, not sure how they’re comparable.

Have never watched the Saudi League so can’t compare that myself…
The top 4 or so teams are probably around top level of the Championship some of the rest are SPL and lower

I'm working over there so I have been to a fair amount of games
That’s not a ringing endorsement - I’d not be taking anyone from the SPL or championship to the World Cup
Very true, that is why I said Welbeck, mind when I have seen Toney play he's been by far the best player on the pitch

Welbeck maybe - the Saudi league is only a step up from the Northern league
Gerrard was on the stick to football podcast recently and was saying he thought the 4 PIF owned clubs could probably compete at the bottom end of the premier league. The rest are mid-championship at best

Welbeck maybe - the Saudi league is only a step up from the Northern league
But he's proved he can play at the highest level.
No one knows, because he’s playing at a rubbish level

Foden would light up that league, but most people agree he shouldn’t go to the World Cup as his performances have been sub par
I get your point but we have many options for Fodens position, unlike our striking department.

Toney has proved he can cut it and has a swagger and self confidence that I believe would flourish at international level.
