Just doing some channel hopping and discover that ITV4 is halfway through a documentary about the 1981 Ashes series.

Just shown an interview with Dennis Lille about him placing a bet on England winning the Headingley test.

Wish I'd caught it from the start although I'm sure it's been on before.

It's called 'From The Ashes' and it's an excellent programme, available on itvplayer for anyone that didn't catch it.

Two bits stood out for me. Botham and Brearley have massive respect for each other, despite what the papers write about them, and Dicky Bird's story about the 4th Test at Edgebaston - the greatest piece of captaincy he ever saw.

Yes, that was it. I originally thought it might have been an old programme but judging by the appearance of Botham, Brearley, Lillee, Marsh, Hughes, Bird etc who all spoke very well I think it must have been a new documentary.

Well worth watching, if you get the chance.

repeated tonight at 8pm on ITV4 . . . great watch if anybody's not arsed about Chelski . . . Apocolypse Now on afters too . . . . don't know if I can watch all of that on a school night though
