Italy could replace Iran at World Cup (Trump)

If every country boycotted the World Cup, the USA would claim to be world champions.

They love a World Series where only the USA is represented.

Then Trump can claim he’s stopped 10 wars and won a World Cup. We should have known he was a tit when he started wearing a MAG cap ….. it says it all

How do the US officials suddenly believe it's Trump's World Cup and he's in charge of the decision of who should be playing?

Because they are all cut from the same cloth...

They are all corrupt and morally bankrupt, which is how they make it into Trump's inner circles...

This is why I hate modern football. The media side now.

So an Italian FIFA member cheekily states in a bit of a joke that Italy should replace Iran.

The media jump on this like it's true and to create a story out of nothing. Of course they won't be replaced.

The problem is that USA can make life difficult for them and increase the chances of them being forced to pull out.

By not issuing visas for staff / delegates. Or by not offering guarantees over security of players and staff whilst in USA.

I hope that they do play, as it undermines the integrity of the competition if they don't. But I'd say that there is still a slim chance that they don't for one reason or another.

There was a time if England had won the World Cup it would have been one of the biggest moments in my life.

I couldn’t even tell you what stage we got to in last World Cup, who we played and who was playing for England.
Tbh, I did watch some of the two games England played at Wembley a couple of weeks ago. I caught up with Japan in the second half, accidentally, whilst channel surfing. Who are these players in England shirts, I pondered. I simply didn't recognise five or six of them, didn't have a clue as to which PL club they played for. Years ago, when Don Revie took charge of England he grandly invited 40 players, or was it even 60, to a well publicised squad get together, in order to assess and discuss their relative merits and motivate them. At the time, I reckon every serious football supporter, whether he followed league or non-league, would have been able to rattle off in his sleep who played for who, and some even, through reading popular magazines such as Shoot, even what some of those players favourite food was let alone favourite car (Capri, Jaguar, MGB ).
Who won the last World Cup, or the one before ? Answers on a post card please.

I detest the man with a passion and will not be at all sad when he shuffles up his mortal coil ( some hope very much sooner TBF later ) but from a purely football related standpoint, the WC is a far better competition with Italy competing

It's been said there's a big Italian presence in USA. Hardly a surprise given the circumstances...
But then it should be Ireland 🇮🇪.

Half of the Eastern Seaboard of USA and most of the big cities out to the start of the Great Plains have enormous communities who claim to be of Irish descent. Boston biggest St Paddies Day in the world.
This WC is more of a joke than the last one.
And that's took some doing.
If he gives Italy a place because he's pissed off the American Catholic community he'd best stay clear of Boston. The Plastic Paddy's never forgive.
And they've got more legal guns than the Provos ever had during the Troubles.
