Italian Football

This years Champions League looks like it will boil down to semi finals between teams from England, Germany, France and Spain (If Arsenal and Bayern get the job done tomorrow night).

Thats one team from 4 of the top 5 football nations in Europe except Italy. All those those top 5 countries have qualified for the world cup except Italy who have missed out for the third time running.

Is this a blip or is Italian football in terminal decline?

Only Inter have been in the last 8 in the 20s and they've missed every WC since 2014. In the doldrums, even though they won the Euros in 2020

Inter made 2 out of the last 3 CL finals?

Italy are also the European champions despite failing to make World Cups.

Heading to Roma Lazio in a month or so, should be lively. Anyone done a game over there?
Done a few now, saw Roma Vs Fiorentina last year as well.

Loads of the stadiums are in poor nick but I think it's great over there. Need your passport to get in but all the ones I've been to you can have a pint in your seat and that.

Apart from the big games it's dirt cheap as well compared to here.

Italian football has declined massively and the money isnt there anymore but it will come back again

Used to attract the top players now they attract the ones other teams dont fancy anymore

Sounds cracking, cheers. Aye I read that about passports, does I need to match name on the ticket or just need passports for ID reasons? Tickets are Viagogo so not sure how we’d get names on them.

I think they should match but can't remember how thorough they are. I imagine they'll have your names on anyway even through Viagogo from what I've heard off others.

It’s ever since the Calciopoli scandal. Italian football has declined since.

To the point where they should not be considered a top 5 league. The Portuguese league should be ranked higher.

Looks like Fiorentina and Bologna going out of the Europe so no Italian teams in the Semis of any European competitions. The stadia looks so basic in comparison to teams in the other big European leagues. Maybe more fun but basic.

There must be money there because Juve etc still sign some decent / expensive players ..

BUT . . they seem to pay over the odds for really average players

Gone are the days when Maradona, the Real Ronaldo, Half the German World Cup Winning Team, Half the Dutch Team who really should have won it ... etc were playing in it
