You clearly haven't been to Haiti. An all expenses trip to Haiti every couple of months, who can blame him
It is an awesome series. The history of the Island is fascinating.
“Only slave revolution that lead to an independent state……..In the 18th century it is the richest place in the entire colonial world.”
Taken from the empire podcast. They do a few episodes on it from ep. 64 onwards.

They amazingly enough have a multi tier domestic league. No idea how that works! This would make sense. I travelled across the country many years ago in the Babydoc era. Some seriously violent undercover government henchmen knocking around then. It would seem now their offspring run lawless gangs. Good luck Wison!
Isidore did?Played in 1974 World Cup along with zaire
That’s because everyone is thick and loves reform/uses FacebookI suspect if you asked 50 random people in the street where Hispaniola is and which two countries share it, it wouldn't be seen as basic common knowledge
Föhn is brutal. Hate itAnd the Föhn effect, the gold standard and the life cycle of a frog.
Maybe he has. He just comes from StanleyYou clearly haven't been to Haiti.
*dumbedMaybe people are more dummed down these days? I would say anyone with half decent general knowledge should know.
Obviously not very good at quizzes these people.
*knowI have been to at least a dozen Carribbean islands including the Dominican Republic and Dominica and no I couldn't find all of them on an unmarked map. I could probably find Cuba, Jamaica and Hispaniola because they are large islands.
Hiati has been in the news for donkeys years. Doc and Baby Doc Duvalier and the Tomtom Macute ruling with an iron fist, mass killings and lots of corruption.
It's been in the news a lot recently through the lawlessness of the place. Perhaps some people live under a rock whereas I don't.
Perhaps he should have used commas around the word no. Considering his criticism of others, he hasn't done a great deal to justify his air of superiority. I don't know anyone who lives under a rock but @Keith S30S certainly seems to have a low opinion of others and a very high opinion of himself.*dumbed

I literally haven't criticised anyone. You must have incredibly thin skin if you think I have.Perhaps he should have used commas around the word no. The West Indies does not exist as a political entity, nor does it exist as a geographical entity. The attempt to form a political entity was a failure. It exist as group of countries that identify culturally as being of the West Indies. Guyana and Belize are two such countries. Describing people as living under a rock is insulting. No is correct!

I pointed out that Guyana was in South America so geographically not really part of the Windies and that Belize was in Central America. They are facts.
Jacques CharltonneThey play their games in neutral grounds around the Caribbean, I believe.
I said 'perhaps'.The West Indies does not exist as a political entity, nor does it exist as a geographical entity. The attempt to form a political entity was a failure. Some it is- I just didn’t read it in that context. Maybe a comma after the no would add clarity or I’m just a dummy. No is correct!![]()

I described Haiti as Hell in earth and it was my first post in this thread. Knowing what happens in Haiti is not the same as know the history of Hispaniola and the two countries that sit on it. It is not generally known amongst the general public. I would argue that it is not generally known that St. Maarten and St Martin are separate entities.I said 'perhaps'.
A quick check on the BBC website brings up over 20 stories about Haiti this year, none good. Gangs, violence, rape, kidnappings etc.

So yeah it's fair to say anyone who hasn't heard about Haiti recently isn't exactly clued up about world news.

I dropped geography after 3rd year so didn’t do O level but I genuinely thought that Hispaniola was a pirate ship in Scarborough.![]()
I would agree but I know because I've been to bothI described Haiti as Hell in earth and it was my first post in this thread. Here I would agree with you. Most people know the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Hispaniola sounds like something from the History books.I described Haiti as Hell in earth and it was my first post in this thread.
