What was said mate?Reggie loves Trai
Waxing lyrical about him in his press conference ( embargoed section)
Was v good last few games and playing in various roles
He's a player who gives everything but he still doesn't get into our strongest 11 because he isn't quite good enough but very good squad player like Geertruida.Just looked at our player stats while I was thinking about our squad depth. Didn’t realise that Hume has the most appearances (31), two more than anyone else - despite arguably not being in our strongest eleven.
Him and O’Nien are perfect examples of where attitude and application get you. Both will do whatever is asked of them for the team and bring much more than just playing ability. I think whether they are good enough to contribute in the premier league has been unequivocally answered albeit as a bit part player for O’Nien and somewhere between first choice and first reserve for Hume. I certainly wouldn’t be looking to move either on just yet.

He only finds a way to play him when we have lots of injuries which is why he's played so much. Both Mukiele and Geertruida are better right backs in my opinion and anywhere else in the team Trey is a bit of a liability.I love LON
But you can’t compare to Hume
He’s a first team regular
Had an absolutely fantastic season and will be here for years and years
Just not true is it, that’s why he’s played the most games
RLB loves him and always finds a way to play him
Just dismissive and disrespectful. He's played the most minutes out if the entire squad for a team thats 3 points off 7th.He only finds a way to play him when we have lots of injuries which is why he's played so much. There's a world of difference between the way Trai Hume and Luke O'Nien have adjusted to the Premier League.
Hume's been generally really solid and although he wouldn't get in my first choice back four, he has adjusted well and is good enough to play at this level. At the age of 24 there is every chance he can kick on.
O'Nien has started 2 games, and played 227 minutes of Premier League football. In that time he has been sent off 7 minutes after coming on as a sub, cost us a goal in a derby, and should have had a penalty against him at Leeds. He's 31, and looks miles off the pace at this level. By no stretch of the imagination has he 'unequivocally answered' that he is good enough to contribute in the Premier League.
He's had an excellent season. Really stepped up and able to play the level.
If we tried to get rid, he'd have more than one PL club wanting him.

That’s why I referred to one as bit part but capable of contributing and one as first choice or first reserve. O’Nien has definitely contributed and been at CB for two very important away wins. The fact he’s contributed is unequivocal. Not anywhere near as much as Hume on the pitch but an undeniable contribution nonetheless, great as a 5th choice CB/3rd choice fullback and worth his place in the squad. Good enough for premier league doesn’t have to mean good enough to play every game. There's a world of difference between the way Trai Hume and Luke O'Nien have adjusted to the Premier League.

I like Hume but he does not get in our best 11. He’s played the most games because he has never been injured and there will nearly always have been a place for him to fit in.I love LON

to be fair there was a spell before afcon and while reinildo and traore were fit where Hume was dropped. It lasted 2 games. With everyone fit I think his first choice back four is reinildo, mukiele, Ballard and alderete. He’d come back in when he plays a back 5Well this isn’t true
He’s been lot better than Geertruida, and the manager agrees with that, which is why he picks him ahead of him every time
Also he was always starting when we had no injuries
Sorry like but this isnt accurate in the slighestx
He’s played 31 games
Also was excellent on the wing in 2 key home victories
Liability!?! Jesus wept man
That’s utter nonsense about o nien that
He started at Everton away, mags away and Leeds away and we won them all
Miles off the pace?
Spot on

I like him as well, I’ve no issue with him playing at all but he isn’t in the best 11. Pretty much all season someone has been out. When everyone was fit he played in a 5 or was on the bench. Mags and Bournemouth at home around that time. He did play as that kind of right winger a couple of times when they were all fit as well but was wingers out at that time as well. Was a couple of times he started and Ballard was on the bench but I would say that was Ballard returning from injury more than anythingWell RLB disagrees as he played loads of games when everyone was fit
Maybe I’m not demanding he plays, I just find some of the comments really poor on this thread, hes class. The manager loves him.
He’s the exact type of player we need at Sunderland for me.
He’s also got real quality on the ball which is why he even takes a lot of set pieces
