Is Sunday…

Is the Chelsea game the biggest in Sunderland’s history now?

We’ve never been this close to making the step up.
Absolutely not. It's a nice to have for sure, but it isn't critical to anything that we do, and we wouldn't go off the rails if we didn't win.

If we're defining the biggest game as the most impactful if it goes wrong, arguably the League One playoffs are that, in that we could have been stuck forever if Neil didn't guide us to that win against Wycombe for instance.

Do people know what the phrase 'in our history' actually means? Or do they just not know anything about our history? Surely they know we have won the FA Cup, for example? And that winning it involves a Final?

Given the difference in the stature of football now, I’d argue* that Sunday is a bigger game.

*I may well be wrong, but I’d argue anyway.
