Is Boro actually a derby match?

Plenty of people (none from this part of the world) have suggested that the Wear-Tyne derby isn't a derby because we're not from the same city. I got the impression from the Hull fans on Saturday that this was a derby-ish match for them. Suppose it's down to interpretation.

But no, I don't think Boro is a derby for us.

Can remember Ayresome being a really frightening place to go. Boxing day 1973 springs to mind and a 2-1 loss, memories of skinheads iirc.
Yes, I've legged it along Linthorpe Road a few times. They were like the fuckers in "I Am Legend"

Wasn't a choice it was down to chemically induced alopecia.

the fact i tried to get a ticket in the boro end by telephone years ago and was questioned on it because i didnt have a'local accent' tells me it is not a derby, miles away, different area different accent and very very strange people.

I think I was at that match. If I remember correctly we conceded late on to lose it. Jackie Charlton was their Manager at the time and I saw him in a pub that night in Hartburn or Fairfield ( Stockton ). In a friendly banter sort of way I said " You were lucky today Jack" and he just growled " That's what they all say " and turned his back on me. Miserable Git

For me you can only have one derby, and thats the mags. Not sure what would happen if Gateshead stormed through the divisions like. But Boro, nar they can get fucked.

Been chatting to my mate Syd this morning, (he is the drayman, originally from Guisborough, but moved to Stockton as a lad and lived there for a few years, before joining the army).

Anyway, we were talking about derbies and his derby for him, (If Boro get promoted), will be us.

For some of us from South Durham/North Yorks it is, but i guess that South Tyneside/Northumberland lads it is not.

Anyway, i told Syd that his derby was probably Hull, to which he sort of agreed, (I did some relief work in Hull once).

Do you class Boro as being the derby?...for me though it is always the mags, even though i live nearer Boro.
Do you get delivered the 30l kegs or 50l.Personally I think you get a better pint out of the smaller kegs.
