Is Boro a derby?

When I was born Boro was in North Yorkshire officially. I personally do think it's a Derby game. 30 miles away. I actually don't mind Boro. The Geordies I don't like. However to me it's a Derby. So is Hartlepool and Darlo if we played them
What's the thoughts?
A "derby" all the way for me, not as big as the scum, but always been a derby imho.

It’s probably the reason we’ve done so poorly against them in recent years.

They treat it like a derby game and we don’t

They are probably more up for it
It’s probably just because you’ve been shit in recent years tbh.

Boro’s record against Newcastle is shocking, yet they don’t care about Boro and Boro treat it more as a derby. So there goes your theory.

I think we have shared a lot of players over the history of both clubs including TM who just left us. For that reason the word “Derby” always been knocked about but it’s clearly a rival.

Boro fans have been debating their new model lately I believe

Aka Sunderland-alike-bollocks about sustainability and not over paying

Could call it the Model Derby I suppose

Battle of the models .

The North East's Next Top Model

I’m from British West Hartlepool County Durham. Their ground is closer to my house than ours is. I’ve had to work amongst them unfortunately at the time they did well in Europe.
There’s very few Boro fans in our town.
I would say to our fans who live in South Durham, Hartlepool,Billingham, Stockton, Sedgefield, Darlo it’s a Derby.
In the 70s and 80s when they were at Ayresome Park and we used to take the pish I know they thought it was a Derby.

30 miles away, and in another county is too far away for it to be a proper derby.

As someone else, it has a little extra spice compared to a lot of other fixtures though, so there is that.

It was always regarded as a Derby going back over the years up until the 90’s, then people started to insist it wasn’t for some reason. I suppose strictly speaking a true derby is a game between two teams from the same town or city, so in that sense even Newcastle v Sunderland isn’t a “real Derby”.

I don't like Boro, but it's mainly because the place is a dump and the fans think we're a rival... Actually I pity them come to think of it.
