Is Boro a derby?

Every club has to compete with the bigger clubs in the country. That's another poor argument.

Just face it you have shit fans 😂😂
That’s a bit rich when we have to pay far more for tickets whilst you’re busy handing free ones out to try fill the ground. Newcastle and Sunderland get larger crowds because they have bigger populations - it’s not rocket science you know

Which doesn't happen.

You would be correct if only people in a city attended games but that's not the case is it.

Durham residents attend Sunderland and Newcastle just like Hartlepool darlo billingham Stockton and Redcar go to Boro games.

If it was only Middlesbrough residents who attended games your gates would be even smaller you numpty 😂

When I was born Boro was in North Yorkshire officially. I personally do think it's a Derby game. 30 miles away. I actually don't mind Boro. The Geordies I don't like. However to me it's a Derby. So is Hartlepool and Darlo if we played them
What's the thoughts?
I honestly couldn't give a fuck either way

Whenever we play the mags, I get nervous and anxious about a week before kick off....during the match, I get tense everytime they are in possession of the ball or in our penalty area...........the score will then determine my mood for the next week or so.....(I could go on and on)

I feel nothing of the sort with Boro. Just another game I want to win
You ever been to boro away mate?

After 5 decades of following the lads I've never regarded this as a derby and never will. The media build this up as a derby for one reason or another but it never has been in my opinion. Boro might view the match differently but for me it's another 3pts to play for and hopefully win.

In my opinion its a devalued derby. Im 51 and when younger its was a derby no question. It might not have been a big as the Newcastle derby but it was nonetheless a derby and all that went with it.

Arrogance on our part has devalued it. At some point the we are a bigger club then them morphed into we arent really that bothered and then into this isnt even a derby and now Sunderland fans see it as a normal game.

It is a local derby by definition of what a derby actual means in football via locality.

By being arrogant sods all weve done is make two more football games more boring.

You’re obviously not very good with maths are you 😁

You mention NE as an area and then compare it to a county in North Yorkshire? Why you comparing a geographical area with a county?i
I clarified that by saying Durham and Northumberland.

Boro is in Yorkshire
I don't get the darlo reference either. I can get to Boro quicker than darlo 😂
Darlo like us is in Durham history not Yorkshire
That's why.

My old man said be a Sunderland fan
And don’t dilly dally on the way
Off on the coach with the boot boys in it
We took Boro in half a minute
We dillied we dallied
We fucked them in the alleys
If you haven’t got a scarf with Sunderland written on it, you will die, die, die, die, die….

It IS a derby. Not THE derby.
Unfortunately the “not a derby” attitude of supposed SAFC fans allows SAFC to treat it with a casual indifference that quite simply isn’t good enough. They’ve pissed on us since the 60s* and I for once I blame the supposed SAFC fans attitides.

*gan on statcat than. Gan on. Add em up. Gan on. Read em and fuckin weep.

I meet more people from Boro than Darlington like. Darlington is almost an hour away. Regardless of if they were once in durhams history

it is to whoever believes it is ..i dont personally consider it a derby!i dont get the arguments about this if im being honest!

It’s “whistling by the graveyard” from supposed SAFC fans.

The Boros not even in the NE lot make me laugh anarl. Would they class Manchester or Liverpool as being in the NW? As they’re a shitload further sarf than Boro are.
