Most of the deemed worthy ground host teams that are mediocre in T20

Especially Glamorgan with their 8 defeats and bottom of the table.

Imo it should have been allocated to teams who qualified in the top four on a actually playing merit basis

The mythical new audiences won’t turn up at the grounds, which are full already for the t20. But they would at the deemed unworthy grounds where new audiences would actually help fill those grounds, IF England players were allowed to be seen

Just imagine CLS if Stokes could have turned out, would have put at least a couple of thousand New Audience members inspired by th3 World Cup final on Ch4

I dunno how many were there tonight but 9.5k at Durham last week, most families. Who are they looking to attract again?
Indeed and if stokes and wood had been allowed, a minimum one game a couple of thousand extra.

They are going to have a draft in October where England players will be used but will at most play once

The mythical new audience will have to be ready for the likes of de villiers, Gayle, Dre russ, narine, etc etc etc, coming in, and taking hundreds of thousands of pounds out of the English game

Meanwhile any decent played drafted, will be getting tapped to th3 hilt, during their times at the deemed worthy counties, that will result in more concentrated talent pools, while the rest will have to make do and mend, then, if I read between the lines, just fade away from county cricket as we know it.

One example is Somerset. A top team but deemed unworthy to shoe horn a totally mediocre Glamorgan into this hundred comp.

100 mile plus round trips for Somerset fans to see their top players in action, whilst the second teams play at taunton

It’s bloody ridiculous and all money spent could have been lashed on the current T20 Blast which has seen record crowds, year on year

And to accommodate it we’re getting rid of the 50 over game, which is ludicrous
Second XI competition next season, or “Development teams” in FTECB speak

I’ve read they want the Asian fans in, like at the World Cup. Ain’t going to happen as none of the Indian lads will be involved.

It’s a huge own goal, made worse by the fact next season is actually the year 2020 which was a massive and straightforward way to upgrade marketing on the current T20 format

Increasing crowds by reducing areas to actually seeing the game in person live.

Classic management sounds a good idea, in a boardroom after a few gins but in reality a complete cock up

One thing. The bbc want it done and dusted in three hours flat. Rain delays not happening in the year 2020?

Once 9pm strikes will that be it and they’ll move onto to Nadiyas cookery tips, or a documentary on hitler?

Cracking legacy for winning the world cup eh?
The whole premise is wrong. The usual T20 suspects are all lining up to be involved. Most of the team managers/coaches are overseas.

Current fan bases when asked vote in the high 90s% over not wanting it.

It’s a huge gamble which is doomed. New audiences will turn up maybe once or twice and then move onto the next fad.

Meanwhile the regular fan base are being ignored and patronised

No, it just shouldn’t exist at all.
I agree on that, I was just suggesting it should be on actual merit and good play. Not the likes of bransgrove and that Yorkshire git, stiffing other counties up, when their own are mediocre

Glamorgan get a franchise for no reason whatsoever and are treat with backhanded payments in comparison to the treatment Durham received

So its basically another T20 Blast looking at the players involved. England will always play constantly from June through to September. A total waste of time, further diminishing our chances of success at test and ODI level and marginalising fans of 10 of the 18 counties. All for the sake of what? A million or 2 for the counties? I'd suggest that this will be negated by diminished crowds, revenue and long-term decline.

Have no interest in the shite so don't know but please tell me how the "chosen few" actually benefit. Thought the Hundred teams were completely separate from the the counties
Players will be tapped up once the teams are set up, by the clubs which are involved.

It’s pretty obvious imo, that will be the result, once the draft takes away all the decent t20 players from the frozen out ten, while those ten will have to use second XIs in the T20 competition

Will that attract a new audience to games at Taunton, Chester le Street and so on? . Kids watching on tv, turn to their parents, I want go to a game, but it’s around 200 mile round trips to grounds.

Not going to happen

The irony of course that the majority of those eight are mediocre at T20 presently

The Blast is in May-June next year. Hundred is during the summer school holidays week and the 50 over comp will run alongside it.

What about this

Could the hundred be shared around the other grounds in future? With playing the t20 qf Lancashire at CLS, they may allow the northern franchise to have games at Headingley, old Trafford and CLS, so that potential new audience, could see the games live, without 200 mile round trips?

Don’t know where you are based or have kids, but if it’s north east, would you travel to Headingley, if after watching the game on tv, your kids were desperate to see a game live in person?
