Investment in the stadium

Some of it could be cost but you'd think about the club being part of the community. We could link with the foundation and other charities and use it as a hub when not used for drinking pre/post match. or even the uni and house part of the glass centre. Yes it costs money but theres more to a football club than the finances. Look at what Wrexham are doing to be part of the community. Football club owners ate custodians, the club will hopefully be here long after theyve gone and they need to leave a legacy. That usually motivates the rich into action.
Again your preaching to the converted, however we keep getting told these are hard nosed, take no shit business people so dont expect any legacy projects like Bob Murray did

May not even need that. Theres plenty of unused land around the ground, some could be used for an indoor fanzone. It'd cost but could be used for functions or meetings during the week.

There is no unused land around the ground that belongs to the club tho - theres a car park but nothing else

yep, the problem they'll always have with a fanzone is that its outside, therefore out of 20 home games per season, you'd be lucky if it was appealing 5 times. it would need to be a saturday kick off and warm enough to stand outside for a few hours... not that common .. maybe only the first and last couple of games per season

also, people like drinking in pubs, its part of the match day routine. i can't see us ever using a fanzone regularly as our pre and post match routine is part of our day out

Didn't say it belonged to the club, although we do seem to have a lot of parking which is not really required. I believe the club own land elsewhere which could be sold/exchanged for land close to the stadium.

Its why we missed a trick not getting the car dealership. Theres land next to it and across to the other 2nd hand dealer. We're moving to closing the ticket office as all online anyway, that building would be utilised too.

i can see what your saying, but i think its going to be a generational thing... i know with our lot there is pretty much nothing the club could do to get us out of the pool club any early and stop us from going to the pub after the match. i'm not really sure what they could offer, other than it being a family/kids thing

If their pub was close to the ground and had comparable options and pricing than say the deaf club with added benefit of players/ex players making appearances and like you say making it a family experience in addition to drinking for adults it could easily work. As it'd cost money I don't see it though. We've the poorest billionaires in the world involved at our club sadly

Thing is with the car audi garage - turn it into a fanzone which will get used every other week during the season. what else would it be used for? It would be a complete waste of money especially when they have the Beacon which gets utilised for the kids

Conferences, business meetings, club functions?

You'd utilise the space for conferences or meetings. Get charities or the uni involved and give back to the community too. (Could house part of the glass centre, what a news story that'd be) The PR is worth so much too. Missed the boat with that building as already sold and being turned into gaming venue. The 2nd hand dealership further along is land that could be used but you'd need to build a structure too.

Its going to be the national gaming centre hub - its pretty big news forthe city tbh

Theyve got the Beacon for that tho - a purpose built building for a fanzone would be a complete waste imo

Theyve also got all them rooms in the SOL
I don't know mate, it's just throwing ideas around on a messageboard. I'm sure there are lots of things it could be used for that far cleverer people than me could suggest

They wouldn’t pick Sunderland over Newcastle, Newcastle trump Sunderland at literally everything. Stadium, location, supporters, global recognition.

They chose us for the 2018 World Cup should we have hosted it. Unfortunately FIFA are corrupt and chose Russia.
