India v England series

A few points to address here:-

1) The pitch.

It is an absolute shocker, prepared to take spin early and with confidence that the Indians have better spinners than us and will win regardless of the toss. India batting second just makes it a bit more competitive.
The draw is taken out of the equation.

2) The onfield umpires are biased.

Not biased, but especially in India, home advantage is huge.
The Indian fans are fanatical and very loud. I've said before that they are like an English football crowd ( without the aggro) this undoubtedly puts pressure on the umpires.
It is like home advantage at a big football game at say, Old Trafford.
Also the competitive gamesmanship of Kohli swings things their way. For example, I can't possibly imagine Kohli getting on with the game after yesterday's gloved catch if the situations were reversed.

You will also get more Umpires calls given against you. Burns lbw today is an example.

3) The 3rd Umpiring is biased.

Hard to argue with that after yesterday. However, anyone who has been to India (and I love the place) must surely see the levels of incompetence are staggering. Whether it is waiting for an hour for the wrong food to arrive in a restaurant, bureaucracy, or just trying to get a train ticket, the sub continent presents many challenges. Corruption is rife, and I certainly don't rule out interference from the BCCI.(Athers once called the ICC a subsidiary of them).
There is a long history of dubious cricketing decisions on the sub continent. I was absolutely shocked when my cricket mad Geography teacher told me this at school. The laws were changed and umpires were no longer allowed to come from the competing countries because of this. This is the first time in years that it has happened, which will be at the back of people's minds.

On a positive note, at least we've avoided the follow on.

Except of course today Sibley clearly edged it and was given out by the onfield umpire and despite their incessant appealing the onfield umpires have given them absolutely nowt and they lost all their reviews appealing for close ones that the onfield umpires didn't give. No issues in the first test that we won of course but as soon as we are on the back foot its down to umpiring.

Just saying that it gives India an edge, the home crowd and the players pressuring the umpires.
I didn't say that the onfield umpires cheated.
The first two appeals for LBW weren't particularly close. Kohli appeared to be annoyed with himself for being persuaded to appeal.
I mentioned three points, the pitch, and both the onfield and off field umpires.
All three gave India an advantage.

Burns’ LBW was generous mind (it was clipping but you know what I mean).
