That’s key really - not throwing it away. We’re good at getting around 400 but not really kicking on from there. You need more than 400 first innings in India generally to control a game, so we need some contributions from others - and that’s decent contributions not 25 and outs.

400+'s would be fine if you have a couple of worldie bowlers like. Or even bowlers bang in form.

Not suggesting it isn’t a good score by any means, but getting it up 500, 550 really let’s you dictate the game, can always still lose getting 400 first innings in India - happened before when the pitch starts turning later on and the second innings become a non-event runs wise
