I'm sure Lawrence would have made 13 runs batting down the order. Root effectively came in at three anyway.

Lawrence was exposed to Bumrah in full flow and pegged back in his crease Gary Ballance style. Not ideal for a young player in his third test, picked for his ability against spin.

I'd be happier with Bairstow at 3 against SL than Ishant and Bumrah. I am wracking my brains to think who could have done a better job than simply moving Joe up.

I think long term Crawley will be the one.
Don’t think he’d have had much luck here though, he looked unsure in SL.
I’d love it if Bairstow could do it & was here, but maybe it’s a good thing he’s not. If he’d got the ball Lawrence got and got out, his name would be mud on here all over again.

Try listening to talksport if you want to here some English bias. Christ that Gareth Barry didn't think his Surrey team mate played a particularly bad shot to get out.

Anything over their over excited ness everytime the ball his our batsman 6 yards outside of leg stump... was hoping an Aussie network or something had picked it up to avoid them tbh
