India v England series

Don’t think so but if it’s a choice between him and Lawrence I think I’d go Pope. Could be a way to get him back in the side is what I’m thinking, in an odd way perhaps with slightly less pressure as it’s not seen as his natural position yet. I could be talking shite like.

It's not a choice between him and Lawrence. They're both going to play surely and Pope was the regular. The question is more who bats at where.

Mate Ali cant bat in the top six like, he's not the same player he was

Pope or Lawrence need to bat 3, simple as that

If Lawrence has any hope of breaking into this team then he needs to bat the top of the order.
Well you're not wrong. But neither have batted there.

For a series in India. One hell of a deep end to chuck either into. At least pope is more experienced at this level then when we last got him at 4.

It’s not inconceivable they go with Ali ahead of Lawrence imo.

Burns
Sibley
Stokes
Root
Pope
Lawrence
Buttler
Bess
Archer
Leach
Anderson/Broad

That’s the only other alternative I can see, if both play. Could swap Root and Stokes around but can’t see that.

It’ll be Stokes at 3. Can’t say I really agree with it but technically he’s capable, it’s just a big ask after being relied upon to bowl and having no cricket for months.

Ed Smith is not a very good selector.
