India v England 3rd Test Rajkot

There are times and places mate. We need to be situationally aware. They are missing their main bowler, have an injured seamer and jadeja is only half fit too. Just bat long and they’ll tire and fall apart themselves. We should have been capable of getting a decent lead here and batting them out of the game, instead we’ve just lost the test match in about 45 minutes. You can’t just sit back and accept this shite
Of course you right to criticize this morning of course you are.

But saying should drop a large chunk of the players because of one granted horrendous morning with respect is well over the top

It’ll never happen, dropping a large chunk of them for the way they’ve batted this morning will be an admission that they don’t agree with the way they’ve gone about things this morning, which will of course never happen.

We had them on the deck with our foot approaching their throats yesterday, and we’ve let them get back up and deck us today. Really poor morning
Cant even drop them, only got Lawrence as the spare batter out there and they dont seem interested in calling anybody else up

This batting isn’t good enough. Would drop Jonny and Root as a minimum, provided we have the options available in India by the time the next test comes around. You can’t believe that stokes thinks this is acceptable today

Sorry like but suggesting dropping Root is utter bollocks.

I agree with the frustrating element of today, that they need to find a balance and sort out their game management and adapt to the game on occasions like this morning, but you don’t go down the knee jerk road of dropping your best player.

He just needs to be told to play his natural game.

Dropping root gives every man in that team a massive kick up the arse. Are we gonna miss his 10 runs a match at the minute?

Have you seen the form Kane Williamson is in?
I doubt he's trying to smash the ball out of the ground every delivery.🤔

He’s much more obdurate than Root, my point is though that every time Root scored runs previously he always did it at a fair rate of knots anyway. Strike rates of 60+ whenever he got going - that’s more than quick enough for this regime.

Because they 100% back the batsmen in the team no matter what. The mindset is that they want no pressure on them at all, making it clear that they’re free to play their game without the fear of being dropped.

Bairstow should be concerned IMO

It doesn’t though. It makes them think that if Root is at risk, they’re at risk, and they’ll be shit scared to play the way that McCullum / Stokes want them to play

Just needs to be told, dont play the ramp shot, or try and hit a 6 or manufacture a shot to a ball you can play orthodox (ignore all 3 when you get past 100)

The key thing there though, is that Root’s natural game isn’t what he’s currently doing. His natural game is working the ball all around the ground at a strike rate of about 60-70.

Also gives that stability in the middle order. Depending on game situation that is needed, and in this series we need it

I don’t get it with Root, like you’ve said why are none of them saying to just play his natural game. How can none of them see the ramp isn’t working, or him going all out attack isn’t needed?

Missed opportunity not taking Jacks or calling Jennings up after his form in the A tour.

Exactly the very reason this team has been successful over this past 2 years completely transforming Englands test fortunes is because they have allowed players to play with freedom without the threat and pressure of been dropped which has plagued England test cricket for years.

Yet the poster wants to destroy all that be dropping our best batsman ever!!!

And why to teach him a lesson for buying into this brilliant way of looking at test cricket.

It’s a staggering lack of looking at the bigger picture
