Is it me or is Root a poor slip fielder? I’m basing this on no proper evidence but he seems to drop quite a few (although this could just be because he fields are slip a lot).

Can’t remember if he fielded there pre his captaincy?

Quite, why he feels it's necessary to try to be funny is beyond me because get him talking about spin bowling and he's good.

Mind, he's replaced the ultimate knob Pietersen so that's a minor bonus.
