Impact of the toss

It's certainly something to consider when, as a for instance, matches start early and there's still dew on the pitch. There's been plenty of games that are more or less finished before a ball is bowled, especially in those conditions.

Seems like we're inventing convoluted solutions to problems were creating for ourselves.

Can we not just play in conditions which don't heavily favour one side? Is that too much to ask?

Team A bat's for 10 overs
Team B then bat's their 20 overs
Team A bat's their final 10 overs

That would have limited the advantage in the World Cup without adding handicap runs

"the Unlucky (toss-losing) captain chooses a run handicap to pin to the more favourable option"

Who decides what is 'the more favourable option' and what if you get a wicket or weather conditions where the more favourable option isn't immediately obvious?

Toss
Winning Captain: We'll chase
Losing Captain: 25 run head start for the team that bats first, do you still want to chase?
Winning Captain: Name that tune.

Or just start the game a bit earlier.
