Its a good f***ing job this World Cup s**** is only on every 4 years. What a week I've had.

It seems reading this a lot of cricket leagues seem to have taken the sensible approach and made a compromise in one shape of another to allow lads to watch England in a quarter final in the World Cup!

Of course the premier league haven’t because their special and it’s unacceptable to let lads watch it after all they the top league in the region you know.

There's your answer. It's not the final which I could understand the hysterics from some. You commit to playing cricket, a lot of the players in the premier league will be getting paid to play. The only possible solution to protect the integrity of the league was to carry on as normal, would've been a ridiculous precedent for as you say the top league in the region to set.

I'm not sure where all this has come from. The only game I have ever known rescheduled for footy (including numerous knockout games) was a mags FA Cup final in the Tyneside league years back. I do agree with the point that it seems to be a few shouting on Facebook that have got this through, as looking at the majority of the reaction since, people aren't too pleased. I may have read it wrong but isnt the final scheduled on a double header in the Durham League too? Its going to be a logistical nightmare if we get that far. Surely if they had a spare Sunday it would have been worth waiting until the final to use it if needed.

I am delighted the NEPL has remained as is. Play the game and look forward to the semi if England win, and thank your lucky stars you have missed another World Cup disappointment if we get beat.

That must be why most other leagues had made that decision to allow lads to watch it, it does not effect their integrity at all ,it just makes them sensible and flexible to help lads who want to watch the game to be able too.

This situation happens once in every 16 years or soo, but of course premier league too special and up their owm arses to see that.

I was taking the piss with the top league crack, all the fucker is a local cricket league, that’s it.

Every 16 years? This could well happen twice in 2 weeks.

I'm not sure if the Durham league have considered the knock on effect aswell of their decision. I am sure there will be an impact on Sunday cricket already scheduled that day in one of the 3rd team leagues, not to mention cup games already arranged for the new date. Ladies/kids games on those days could be affected, and I know there is a charity day had to be knocked on the head as a result of it. If anything aren't they being "up their own arses" by assuming they can just take a Sunday regardless of what else was planned that day.

I agree hundred percent

Arrogant.

No it could not semi finals of the World Cup have always been on a night during the week as has the final always on a Sunday night.which is the case again this time.

How many times can we remember a England quarter final on a Saturday afternoon in a major championship only the quarter final in euro 96 springs to mind,so actually once in every 16 years one pretty conservative.

Seroiulsly though mate the bigger picture is this situation would hardly
ever happen again, yet there is talk about setting a precedent from one poster!

It’s just about been sensible and flexible for a one off situation

Are you now saying the premier league have not reconsidered rearranging as they concerned about other issues.

I don’t think soo.

I don’t think soo.

I know for a fact that is one of the considerations taken into account at the meeting. And the most valid one in my opinion.

I don't have an issue over people wanting to watch the game rather than play cricket, and understand games may fall victim to that, but I just don't think you can shoehorn a round of games into a Sunday where there are already games arranged.

Did anyone confirm if the date of the final is in fact a double header in the Durham League. If we get there when will those games be moved to? For the record I accept a final may be an extraordinary situation, but a Sunday they seemingly could use has now been burnt already.

the weekend of the final is a double header and they have already agreed to move it IF England get there.
