ID checks for away tickets

i've seen this mentioned a few times now and i disagree.
the only way i would agree is if the club set up a resale of those last minute tickets and those tickets went to people with the required amount of points who missed out and not just mates of those who for whatever reason decide not to go. i've seen people say they decide at the last minute not to go but the same argument could be said for those who would quite happily go at the last minute.
also, if every fan did it 2/3 times a season that could extrapolate to a hell of a lot of tickets going to those who don't have the right amount of points.

There's absolutely no way the Club will ever get to the point of selling any last minute tickets either because they're incapable of running such a scheme or nobody actually uses it. As has been said these issues are absolute last minute decisions. Even if you have been ill all week you only decide not to go at the very last minute because you give yourself every possible chance of going. It's a much easier decision to say I'm not going to work tomorrow lol. It's obvious you feel angry about potentially missing out on the odd game to someone with fewer points and I understand that but personally I'd prefer the ticket was used with as little hassle as possible. We have all benefitted from the occasional ticket in teh past I am sure

i'm not angry and i have no worries whatsoever about getting tickets. why would it be impossible for the club to have a last minute option and do you not think it would be a good and fair idea?
i do have an issue with unfairness, one of the biggest proponents of this 'scheme' has just admitted the passing on of tickets among his group. do you really think that's fair on others?
in my view this whole 2/3 times a season is just an excuse to dish out tickets to their mates who may or may not deserve them.

i've been going to away games for over 40 years and can only ever remember duffing one match when the car broke down. there was another time at luton when i stopped in the club but there was no tickets in those days.

To faciliate the last minute re sale of an away ticket, you'd require the home club to generate a new ticket link etc.

I don't see how it cannot happen though unless you make sure any booking that includes a child ticket is not subject to an ID check which sort of makes a mockery of the system if anyone with a child can pass tickets to who they like knowing they will not be picked.

I assume the solution (or what I would do anyway) would be scan the adult ticket first but send the child through and then scan the child ticket and adult goes through on that. I would assume even the thickest steward can see its an adult and a child on an adult and child ticket and the order the go through the turnstile is not important

Away tickets used to be able to be returned in previous seasons. I suspect that has changed this season.

would it be that difficult to do? all they would need to do surely is to cancel the original ticket link and perhaps the last minute tickets could be collection only from the home club's ticket office?

The data gets sent to the home club at least 24 hours before the game.

i got a paper ticket for brentford from the stadium of light the day before just before our ticket office shut. granted that was paper tickets and it was a last minute decision by me to go. surely data is easier and quicker than paper to change.

The ticket office closes at 17:00 on a Friday and there’s no one working until 09:00 on the Monday. Unfortunately, all football clubs are businesses and are run like businesses I.e. clubs aren’t going to pay wages when they’ve sold all of their tickets for an away game.

the home club's ticket office is open though. it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to have such a scheme for the resale of tickets surely?

would you have put it up for resale if you could? that would mean another fan getting the opportunity to go.

Aye. Is that an option?

I made the decision not to go late in the day (on the morning of the match) due to mental health issues. Would that not be too late to get it to someone else, that's if i was in the right frame of mind to do it.

How would the home club be able to confirm that the fan trying to purchase the ticket was a Sunderland fan and had the correct number of loyalty points? Also, the home club already has the money from the ticket so they’d have no incentive to. Would the home club prioritise dealing with away fans trying to purchase an away ticket in preference to resolving an issue a home supporter had with their ticket not working for example?

perhaps an id check like the title of this thread? i really don't think it would be impossible to set up and would benefit fellow fans.
we've had issues with the tickets not arriving by post in time for chelsea and fulham and got replies from ask safc late on the day before the game to pick replacements up from their respective ticket offices, both sorted without fuss or drama. we also getting knocked back at man city with digital tickets. again sorted out no problems at the ticket kiosk. being a home or away supported had nothing to do with anything.
as for the club already having the money, i agree but it's the principle of fairness for me.

I'm in the same situation where I work away so out lass takes the kids when I'm working so we 'share' a season ticket.
The same happens for away games, she will take them if I'm working. Luckily we haven't had any ID checks yet but by rights she will not get into the ground to an away if she gets an ID check.
Not really sure what the answer is here but the club are happy enough for people to share season tickets as it was the reason I gave them for why we wanted a physical season card when they were trying to push digital a few year back.

Few things not adding up here mind
 
I realise it would complicated to do , and bare little financial benefit to the home club or SAFC , but if there was on an option on my SAFC ticketing account to "forward away ticket" - like there is for home games - and you get a drop down list of your friends and family , you can then select someone on the condition they are a current ST holder and don't already have a ticket for that game, then it generates a ticket and sends the link to that account

But your restricted to a few a season

In my simplified mind it seems easy as it's exactly the same as what we already have for home tickets

I'm sure there'll be a convoluted reason why it can't be done..it would help out a lot of people if it could be tho

that would be ideal if they have the points it reached if the game sold out.
