ID checks for away tickets

It's more of a problem as you get older. I missed both games in Manchester due to respitatory viruses. Doesn't stop me buying tickets. The problem is that it's normally 24-48 hours before the match when you finally conclude you won't make it. Too late to return the ticket.

there is no official way to return a ticket regardless, is there?
its just a natural part of life, you have to commit to the away game 7-8 weeks in advance, you have small window to buy your ticket. you buy it, and something comes up between that day and the day of the game that means you can't go. its not as absurd as some are making out

More because he likes his kip too much or is under the thumb
And if that’s why he misses games, he shouldn’t get a ticket or a point
More of an argument to limit tickets for codgers who add little to the atmosphere anyway

But the instance the lad is talking about here is where they share a season ticket which the club is more than happy for people to do.
I'm in the same situation where I work away so out lass takes the kids when I'm working so we 'share' a season ticket.
The same happens for away games, she will take them if I'm working. Luckily we haven't had any ID checks yet but by rights she will not get into the ground to an away if she gets an ID check.
Not really sure what the answer is here but the club are happy enough for people to share season tickets as it was the reason I gave them for why we wanted a physical season card when they were trying to push digital a few year back.

One of the lads got stopped on Sat. His young son had gone in first and then his ticket got rejected. Ridiculous situation where an 8 year old child was in the ground and yet he couldn’t get in.

Yeah surely a safeguarding issue there.
You would think they would ID check all tickets of the same booking to prevent this with juniors.

I get the impression people think stricter rules mean the would be thousands of extra tickets available each week… in reality there won’t be, maybe another few extras here had there, those that go will still go
The friends and family bit is an issue and obviously you can’t really stop the players sorting their mates out but there seemed to be quite a few at arsenal more bothered about videoing than owt else

I've managed my condition (don't want to go into it on here) ok for years but just couldn't do it for the Brentford game and didn't go last minute.
I had the point deducted which I have no problem with whatsoever.
I has however made me a bit paranoid thinking what if it was to happen again?
Would the club sanction me or something (I never pass tickets on before someone says anything)
The outcome is without any clarification on the matter I would probably drag myself there if I was ill again just to avoid some kind of sanction/punishment.
This is why everyone should get 2/3 passes a season

The interesting thing here is that a post was put on here last week to say that the club said that this would not happen. The clubs communications have been shambolic within the handling of this, awful.

Apparently these won’t be available next season, this is second hand information that I have heard from a BLC representative.
It may have been an instance whereby the adult ticket was bought in phase one and the junior ticket was bought in phase 3. That way, I don't believe they could put them together in terms of an ID check. There's so much to this process it really needs to be thought through fully.
They won't be as it's a premier league mandatory regulation from the start of next season. Certain individual cirumstances may be considered, however, that bar is set exceptionally high.

How do you administer that though? Can you pass it to a pal who has 0 points bypassing the system?
Or will there be a wait list in points order for those who missed out on the initial sales?

That would need the ability to return the ticket to the club, which currently doesn't exist.

@SAFC2012 I thought tickets could be returned?
I assume juniors are exempt from ID checks - well under 14 at least as you cannot attend on your own
I don't see how it cannot happen though unless you make sure any booking that includes a child ticket is not subject to an ID check which sort of makes a mockery of the system if anyone with a child can pass tickets to who they like knowing they will not be picked.
I assume the solution (or what I would do anyway) would be scan the adult ticket first but send the child through and then scan the child ticket and adult goes through on that. I would assume even the thickest steward can see its an adult and a child on an adult and child ticket and the order the go through the turnstile is not important

I thought you couldn’t buy individual kids tickets anymore- part of the initial clampdown on point collecting back in the day. Hopefully just a blip in the system
I don't think it needs to be OTT. We need to remember that probably 97/98% of fans do everything properly yet we always suggest solutions that make it too difficult for everyone or too difficult to administer. Plus we are talking about last minute issues. On other threads plenty of fans have said they've no problem with someone taking a child or mate or missus at the last minute rather than seeing the ticket go to waste. I would support that. Limiting this to 2/3 times a season means it can't be abused. As @markyp mentioned above without a proper process he'd probably will drag himself along to the match. I've done this myself against my better judgement. It would be a nightmare trying to find a fan with the required number of points so just wouldn't happen.

i've seen this mentioned a few times now and i disagree.
the only way i would agree is if the club set up a resale of those last minute tickets and those tickets went to people with the required amount of points who missed out and not just mates of those who for whatever reason decide not to go. i've seen people say they decide at the last minute not to go but the same argument could be said for those who would quite happily go at the last minute.
also, if every fan did it 2/3 times a season that could extrapolate to a hell of a lot of tickets going to those who don't have the right amount of points.
