ID checks for away tickets

Yep, any sunderland fan who lives in Northumberland or county Durham can rely entirely on the branches for home and away travel and would be thier entire link to the club.

It's easy for someone who doesn't use branches to say "fuck the branches" , but at Cheltenham away on that Tuesday night when we got beat, who's organised all those busses lined up bringing fans down from all over the place .

Now we are in the premier league the club are expected to just fuck them off?
New Years Day away next year would be especially fun considering the hysterics about not being able to get to a home match cos E6 is having a day off.

As I said, as in life you’ll never find a perfect scenario. But if you want football to become a further step to bring more sanitised than it already is, stripping back branch travel to away matches would be a great way to go about it.

I’ll say it again. They provide a way more positive service for many than the detriment they may cause by the ticketing issue being talked about here.
i'm not disputing the service they provide, i was a member of a branch for quite a while myself. i'm on about the underhand way they distribute tickets to those who don't 'deserve' them. this can be backed up by a poster on here who reckoned their branch had a 'reserve' list in case anyone didn't want to attend.
like i said before, the only reason this thread exists is because of them and the facebook bellends.
i have no skin in this tbh, i've enough points to be comfortably get tickets, i just hate to see genuine people missing out.

do you really think every person who went to cheltenham went on a branch bus? do you think it's right for them to cheat the loyalty point system and for more deserving fans to miss out?

why not stipulate who you're referring to when describing a pissed up wrong'un then? you're making a mountain out of a non existent molehill but carry on.

the branches get a free hit on here by a lot of folk but they're the root of this carry on, as well as the bellends who tout tickets on facebook.
the only criteria for getting a ticket is the loyalty point system, not a mode of transport/membership of a branch/being mates with someone.

Reading it back it’s fairly self explanatory in its context.

I’ll repeat myself for the final time on this. Our branch has used this when people have fell ill. The ticket comes with bus travel, when someone pulls out last minute it means someone else can go. I can’t speak for every branch but the one I’m in are loyal supporters who went during the league one years. Nobody is buying and selling tickets for profit. Nobody is getting tickets for people that have zero points.

Being in a branch is looking after your fellow supporters, not shafting them. You seem to have an issue with this.

Again, I can’t speak for every branch but don’t tar them all.

They can’t just do at turnstile.

They send an email!

It’s not a legal requirement to carry ID in any walk of life nevermind watching Sunderland.

People are just making shit up now
Used to be able to get a government approved ID from the post office.
Why should he have to pay for that. Unless it free

Nor. I never said that. I was at that game and I drove my own car. But when I got there, here was a big line of busses belonging to all the branches, filled with fans who wouldn't have been able to get their otherwise

I've read several times that away tickets are subject to random id spot checks

The club hide behind these small printed T+Cs

They could easily release a social media post saying

"fans may be subjected to ID checks, if the turnstile doesn't allow access with your ticket, please go to ticket office with your ID ready. Please get to the ground with enough time to allow for this. 10% of fans have been chosen at random, this is counter touts and points harvesting"

They could release this prior to every away game , it would take 2 seconds and everyone would know exactly where we stand

The club need to come out and make it absolutely clear to the fans.

communicate it officially and everyone knows the process that is being carried out.
There’s a note on the ticket download notification email.

Additional Ticket Information

Supporters are advised Away tickets are sold on an individual basis and links must not be copied and shared with others.

Note - Random ticket spot checks will be carried out throughout the season

Where

Do Sunderland dictate that randomly

If you show id you should then be let straight in not going to a rammed away ticket office.
The Oxford tickets they confirmed recently said..

The Club reserves the right to carry out random spot checks throughout the 2025-26 season.

And this. Spot on

All clubs advise you’re in your seat at least 20 minutes before kick off. Obviously very few adhere to that but it’s a common statement on paper tickets. If you decide to turn up at 2:55 (as I do) that’s on us and not on the club.

The club should be on the same side as the fans not hiding behind T+Cs ..

All the nonsense and bullshit they post on Twitter , they could easily post some helpful, respectful information, just to show that they care about the fans .

The stewards wouldn’t have the name that the ticket was in. This information is available on the clubs database, hence the requirement to visit the ticket office.
