ID checks for away tickets

Why can’t they just issue a statement saying X amount of tickets at every away game will be deactivated & spot checked for ID? Instead of emailing people at this time the night before

Because the ticket office seem to be getting kicks out of trying to catch folk out. Folk that are willing to travel to the other end of the f***ing country to support the lads and these ***** are pulling these stunts.

The enemy of our fan base is our ticket office. Unbelievable.

Shame on them.

Its probably fair enough doing ID checks. Its definitely not fair enough doing them at Brighton away where many will have travelled down today and sending an email out this evening. And its also not fair enough doing this without any communication about any potential repercussions on not having ID for your ticket if chosen.

The ticket office is maddening at times.

I agree to be honest. They should have sent an email out to all season ticket holders outlining the process and intention to become stricter with checks.

It's not really fair to just point at T&C's (when a lot of people don't even bother to read them) if someone has been doing it years and suddenly gets pulled after forking out £300 and travelling the length of the country.

Club will probably let someone off the 1st time you don’t show up, if it happens again will be some sort of punishment.

I wish they'd just let us support our team.

I wish Kyril or David Bruce would tell them to f***ing wind their necks in. These checks may be premier league rules but our enforcement is a disgrace, actively trying to fuck people over threatening to ruin what has been a great season.

Communication seems to be far from ideal here but I’d imagine after the Man City emails and the 60 page thread on here that they provoked, most going down will have taken ID with them anyway to be of the safe side. No problem slipping your driving licence in your pocket and the young uns carry it anyway to access pubs etc.

We had someone on here who is travelling down absolutely insistent it was only a city thing and that he ain't taking any ID. Although, granted, not hard to take id.

Plus, there will be people who can't make it last minute for genuine reasons. Are we really saying if they pass their ticket on as a one off and someone travels to the opposite end of the country that, that person gets refused entry?

It feels beyond messy.

It's the 1st time this season I've travelled to an away game ( without the car), and had my driving license.
They need to make it clear, that you should have some identification, when going to away matches.
It should have been done at the beginning of the season.
