ID checks for away tickets

Just been in ticket office trying to get me sisters mags ticket sorted as 2 would download the other wouldn’t got talking, she got on about away games saying they have a massive problem of people buying tickets and selling them on. Also said for nufc there will be spot checks to make sure the people who are there are who bought the tickets etc

The club have known about that Facebook page for years tbh and that should be the first target.

Wouldn’t go down well would it let’s be honest, was up roar this year when they fucked a few peoples ticket up.
But on this away ticket thing branches getting so many. Just got a txt asking for me money for spurs away only got 1 ticket he needed a 150 and got 70
Sorry if I'm being a bit thick but how could he need 150 but only get 70?

Surely if he had 150 eligible numbers then he would have got 150 or is it the case that they are just not fast enough as they now have to process themselves and order 9 at a time?

Aren’t branches only allowed to apply for forty initially then have to apply for nine at a time thereafter?

I'm all for ID checks.

The system is as good as it will get.

You’re probably right until systems are advanced enough to deal with more secure ticketing as we see at concerts and similar events.

ID checks seems a reasonable interim step to put off those abusing the system.

He does but like we’ve said previous he has to log in like everyone else and attach every ticket to a different number whilst he’s doing this there been sold to other eligible fans

Apologies only read first 2 lines in a rush. Exactly as you say mate not fast enough

Does amaze me like, that this day in age out of 70 people, there aren't a few others capable of logging in and making a network to buy tickets so one person doesn't have to try and do it all themselves. Are people really that computer illiterate or is it laziness?

Laziness I reckon

I've seen how fast tickets go and no way you would get more than 9 in phase 3 (and probably struggle to even get that)

People desperate to go but no-one help him out

There was a much bigger ‘ticket exchange’ facebook group which was closed down 18 to 12 months ago after contact from the club. The current one has grown since then. Can’t be long before they’re shut down and another one pops up.

….which is something you support as you have already said the current system is fit for purpose and you believe nothing needs changing.

I would like to see the supporters who do the most miles rewarded for their efforts. You, and several more on here, would rather that was not the case.

As I said, it’s about opinions.
There will always be tickets made available to corporate sponsors and players though , I accept that because I think sponsorship should provide perks for those investing, likewise the players.

I’m one of those that is rewarded accordingly though , my points are commensurate with the effort I put in travelling to watch the team and therefore will always get an away ticket allocated.

I accept there will be loads more deserving than me, as I’m aware that during the good times more want to travel than can be accommodated.

C’est la vie.

Ticket Spot Checks

ID checks continue for the 2025/26 season to uphold the integrity of the loyalty point system.

Please note all tickets are for the sole use of the supporter making the purchase under their Newcastle United supporter number and are strictly non-transferable. Ticket transfer is not in operation for this fixture.

Spot checks on Sunday for that lot then.

Assuming she meant that the stewards would be taking more notice of the types of tickets used. i.e. Kids and OAP tickets not been passed onto other adults. I'd be astounded if they start asking any home fans for ID at the turnstiles - it's bad enough trying to get everyone in the ground for KO without doing this.

This is what they'd do. If that was the case, I'd expect them to send an E Mail similar to what was sent out on Friday afternoon to advise that your digital ticket had been de-activated and you had to go to collect your ticket from the ticket office. Don't think it would be fair on people scanning their ticket at say 13:50 on Sunday and not getting in to the ground til say 14:30 etc.
